ECHO Comment: "Fears of Witch-hunt Against Liverpool FC" part 2

My gf wants to know why a man in his 30s knee slid like drogba across the living room in the 70th minute of a game his team isnt playing in, being told in no uncertain terms that i need to 'settle down'

Yeah I'm in the dog house this morning. Son's first birthday yesterday so he was massively over tired, Mrs has tonsillitis so was in bed. All was calm. Kompany scores I drop the laptop, remote control and mobile in jumping up and down. Baby wakes up, Mrs races downstairs thinking something serious was going on. When I told her City were one up...well I can't type what she called me. Baby had an unsettled night and I was left to deal with him.

Knackered in work today. NEA - it was worth it.

As an Evertonian since birth, I'm really looking forward to what I'm sure will be one of those "great European nights at Anfield."
That could be the first time I've ever said that in my 51 years on this planet!
Come On You Barca Blues!!!!!!!

I get what you're saying, I was highlighting the pressure City are, and have been under for weeks. They have the much harder game because of that. Satan will ensure the dark side breeze past Wolves who have nothing to play for. Brighton may draw encouragement from Citys jitters and rise to the occasion.

I think Wolves will beat the RS.....

My ideal scenario in the Premier League is for Liverpool to draw with Wolves and City to draw with Brighton. Not sure it would do my nerves much good though.

...they basically played for two competitions. The likes of Chelsea, United or Arsenal in the past who may have finished winners/RU with less points were eyeballs out for all 4 trophies. That's a factor too.

The comparison doesn’t take account of the relative strength of the premier league either. Mourinho’s Chelsea for example had to compete against the invincibles, Fergie’s United, Liverpool’s CL winners, even our side that finished 4th. 95 points in that league conceding only 15 is an unbelievable achievement. United around 08/09 had Benitez’s Liverpool, resurgent City and Spurs, Chelsea were CL finalists and title winners, Arsenal challenging for the title. Even we had one of our best prem sides getting to a cup final and European regulars.

The top 6 aside from City Liverpool and Spurs are a shambles this season, we’ve been poor, the fact that a newly promoted side is in 7th tells you all you need to know, Huddersfield Fulham and Cardiff are probably not even championship standard. It’s been a low quality season that is conducive to a high points total for two teams financially doped to the max pushing each other to not be able to coast through any game.

Comparisons to any other season are futile. Put this Liverpool team in a game on a neutral venue against United of Ronaldo Rooney Tevez Berbatov, or against Mourinho’s Chelsea, or Henry Bergkamp Pires etc. and see how they’d fare. I doubt the apparent ten point difference in quality would quickly disappear and they’d probably be on for a hiding similar to the ones they’ve received from ageing Madrid and Barcelona teams recently.
