Due to his age, you can't survive as a club making heavy losses on players.

Baines, jags, Williams leaving for free Williams cost 12m just 3 years ago
Klassen 12 m loss
Bolasie 25m another loss
Siggurdson walcott both 30 this year cost 45m and 20m respectively your looking at massive losses on both
Tosun another loss
Schneiderlin another one
McCarthy another

The cost of the transfers are amortised over the life of the contract.

In terms of making a loss, for accounting purposes, letting Williams go on a free (for example) wouldn’t be classified as a loss.

Yeah, Viking costs us roughly 14m per year.

He has 3 years left, so if we sold him for 14m in the summer, we would make an accounting profit due to removing the 42m liability on our books.

Jags, Baines and Williams all have no value, due to their contracts expiring.

Thought Chelsea are facing a transfer ban......
Could it be like Barcelona where they agreed a transfer in principle, with some money exchanged, and it's only ratified once the ban was expired?

They signed Turan and he moved to club (training their etc.) but couldn't be finally completed and registered until six months later when it had finally been lifted.

On the opposite side of things, Kenny and Davis would have nominal book value so if we were to sell them, it’d all be profit.

But we are minted
We can afford it

Using your numbers if he has 3 years left at 14m a year and we sell him for 14m aren’t we gonna make a loss of the remaining 2 years we going to have to just write off?

I was watching the RBL and BMG replay and Denis Zakaria ran down Timo Werner from behind. It was impressive. He's a terrific player that BMG in my opinion has misused. He's smart, skilled, makes good decisions on the ball...think he could be a perfect sitting 6, but BMG pushes him up the field as an 8 or even sometimes a wider player too often. He's playing a bit more of a DM this match - where he should be playing - and he's looked terrific.
