ECHO Comment: "Fears of Witch-hunt Against Liverpool FC" part 2

I’m not defending anything mate. I just don’t think there is anything to really defend or lambast about that particular incident. This was early minutes of the game (so Fabinho would have to be Barton-esque in terms of madness to try something like this while under no provocation), If there was any intent on Fabinho’s part to evacuate his nostrils on Hazard, it was very poorly executed because he didn’t get him or the physio.

I think it looks bad on TV. Personally I was taught that spitting in the street was wrong, but players do it twenty times each in games. Given how many eyes were on them at the time, Azpilicueta was stood 6 yards away, it’s mad that neither Hazard, the physio, any other Chelsea player, Sarri, Zola or the coaching staff were complaining or going as mental as many watching fans did (and have on Twitter since).

One can only assume, those closest to the incident didn’t see anything wrong in what he did either.

Snotting on someone would hardly be top of their list of crimes as a football club would it? You continue to defend them mate and carry on posting critically about those pesky players of ours. All us blues should stick together mate.

If Hazard or that physio comes out and says, “I was snotted on” then i’m right there with you mate!

As you say, there are more important, genuine and evidenced transgressions to allude to than a potential snotting.

I’ve thought for the past few weeks that City would slip up and tbh that is still very much at the back of my mind but the way the media and Liverpool fans are almost expecting a Liverpool win is taking the pressure off City I think. They’re absolutely gliding through games at the moment and whereas they were looking a bit ropey a few games ago De Bruyne seems to have kicked them on a level again. That combined with United being completely outplayed at home by Barca PSG Burnley West Hama and Watford allied with the injuries to Kane and Alli mean that it’s not completely incomprehensible for City to win both of those games. I also don’t think that given Liverpool’s performance at Fulham and for 80 minutes at Southampton that the games against Cardiff or Newcastle will be the walkovers everyone is expecting.

City are the best team in this league no question, and if fate conspires against them and they get sucker punched once and lose it then so be it. But since Newcastle there hasn’t been a game home or away that they haven’t completely dominated in the league. The media are so quick to write them off but this is a side that won 18 games in a row last season and even Liverpool couldn’t beat them this season. I just don’t think it’s as in the bag as the kopite media think it is. They’d have been looking at today as a potential banana skin for City, away at a counter attacking team after an away mid week CL game on the back of an FA cup semi, no Fernandinho. City strolled through it like it was nothing.

It’s on a knife edge but if any side could waltz away with the next five games without even breaking sweat it could be City.
It requires almost for sure that City win all their games. Liverpool will win theirs, you can be certain of that.

Hazard has his face covered and the two physios are doing their job. The only person who sees it clear as day is the ref.

I'm sorry mate but if you think that's normal behaviour what he does the way he leans forward to do it I think your a proper wrongun fella.

Oh absolutely. I just don’t think it’s beyond City with De Bruyne back firing.

They have a slip left in them. The banana skins are scattered about their feet. It's not impossible, but the quality they have to face suggests a draw at the very least, and that'll be enough.

Today was a definite banana skin out of the way. Great away win that. Question is can they raise their game for the next 5 games to take maximum points.

Gonna be tough.

It'll get tougher than that. I see Spurs, United and Leicester as especially dangerous, even from a draw persepective.

I just cant make a realsitic case for any of Liverpool's last 4 opponents taking anything. In fact it could be a great opportunity for them to narrow that 9 goal deficit they have with City.

Liverpool will win everyone of those games by 2/3/4 goals.
