Europe gives you more money, attracts players, gives you another trophy to try win, can get you into the CL if you win it, has some fantastic away days for the fans.

Dont get the whole "we dont want europe" shouts we are a million miles off the top 4 at present and aint going from 9th to 4th in one season.
This is why some want it, it's not about whats best for Everton.
We're not going to win it, to even think we might is silly, and it will give us less hopes of the league cup.

Also it gives you buttons and players care about the CL not the EL

Honestly not arsed about Europe next season, think it would hinder us more than anything else.

As the Europa League's biggest fan, I'm torn.

I want it so we can be taken seriously by players potentially coming in and obviously, so we can watch the Blues in Europea.
However, can also see the positives in having the time to rest over the summer and letting Silva and Brands work without the distractions of last summer.

Last summer with the World Cup was a nightmare; we need this summer to be empty.

I want it selfishly if we pull out a Greek team so I can get to watch the blues over here.Apart from that ,I would rather clear the deadwood out, have a good transfer window and go from there.

7th might not get in Europe this season and we might not even finish 7th anyway but I could never imagine a situation were i would not want to be playing in Europe. Doesn't matter how much we need to rebuild the club, being in Europe is awesome and brings very exciting games our way and so what if you fail at the first hurdle. Would rather be in it and fail than not be good enough to even qualify for it. We are years away from being anywhere close to the top 4 so lets get what pleasure and experience we can while we build up to higher levels.

its proven that whatever team ends up starting with no real pre season and rushed transfer business , plus starting on june 23rd , ends up in a disasterous premier league season.

The Europa is far from buttons, we got around 17m last time we were in it. And of course players prefer the CL, but any sort of European footy will attract most players bar the Tier 1s.

I get why people are against it, but we really need European footy year in year out, its not an issue if you build the right squad.

Personally think we will struggle to finish 7th tho myself and it very rarely goes to 8th.

Can see us finishing 9th myself.

proven mush.

us, Newcastle, burnley this year …. turns the premier league season into a dogfight

The CIES Football Observatory in Neuchatel, Switzerland, has recently conducted a study that suggests participation in UEFA club competitions does not have a negative impact on domestic league results.

Taking the last six seasons as a sample size, the research considered results over the short, medium and long term to measure the impact that playing in the UEFA Champions League or UEFA Europa League can have on domestic performance.

In terms of league places, three improved and eight declined. In terms of points, four improved and seven declined. So does that automatically mean Neville is vindicated and the Europa League really is a scourge for league performance?

Not so fast. Take a closer look at the eight teams whose performances declined in terms of league places. Two of them suffered a vertical collapse, but the other six experienced only a slight dip.

That would be Stoke in 2011-12 (from 13th to 14th and from 46 points to 45), Swansea in 2013-14 (9th to 12th, 46 to 42), Tottenham in 2013-14 (5th to 6th, 72 to 69), Hull in 2014-15 (16th to 18th, 37 to 35) and Liverpool in 2015-16 (6th to 8th, 62 to 60). And then there's Fulham in 2011-12, whose points total actually increased from 49 to 52 but who fell a league position.

In other words, we're talking about six clubs who -- pretty much -- stayed the same, falling an average of two positions and just over two points. I'm not sure that's statistically significant in any way.

Two clubs did collapse year-on-year: Everton in 2014-15 (5th to 11th, 72 to 47) and Newcastle in 2012-13 (5th to 16th, 65 to 41). Perhaps that is where the perception comes from.

But three clubs improved: Tottenham in 2011-12 (5th to 4th, 62 to 69), Chelsea in 2012-13 (6th to 3rd, 64 to 75) and Liverpool in 2012-13 (8th to 7th, 52 to 61). The improvement in places was minimal at an average of 1.7, but the bump in points -- an average of nine -- was significant.
