We'll find out if he gets the players he needs: principally a striker who can score, a right winger and a right back.

This is a young team Silva has put together too, the effect of having a season under their belts cant be underestimated either.
Agreed.
Lets just hope theres not another Spurs 2-6 drubbing in the last 9 games for him to be given time to get those players in the summer.

Believe it was £80 mil plus 2 loans and Bernard on a free. Excellent this day and age considering Liverpool paid £100 + mil on 2 centre mids that aint upto much.
Point stands should have bought a Centre Forward in ....but hope its addressed this summer.
We spent £30m on Mina, who doesn’t appear to be up to much.

Silva chose to spend the funds on Richarlison, instead of getting a striker in.

Some astute buys & bringing the youngsters through too it can still be done, you don't have to spend a fortune...

Aye ...cant judge Mina at all yet , but i'm not prepared to write him off just yet...could be the best 30 mil wr've ever spent...we'll see.

To me Richarlison replaced Mirallas , no brainer to me that.

But ye we have to get a striker in.

Yet Watford, a team sitting 6 points clear of us, haven’t spent anywhere near that.
6 points is hardly an unbridgeable chasm .
However the 13 points that separates Watford (and Wolves) from 6th placed Chelsea undoubtedly is.
Watford are still a mid table club along with ourselves and the rest of the frustrated hopefuls marooned on the wrong side of that ever present divide.

It’s fine for Watford and Wolves to be mid-tables clubs, though, isn’t it? One hasn’t invested to be anything more than a team scrapping around the bottom end of the table and the other has only just been promoted.

What isn’t fine, is for Everton, a team that has invested heavily, to be behind these teams and likely to stay behind them.

The blame for that lies firmly at Silva’s door.

You should go look at Wolves spending mate. You may be surprised.

Edit: to add to that, we've spent but not very well.

I would say its not at Silva's door at all , of course the results should be a lot lot better .
The buck stops at Koeman and Walsh , this mess will take 2/3 transfer windows to clean up.
Now it depends on are you prepared to give him and Brands the time to do it ?

Needs more time before he can be blamed entirely. He’s had one transfer window to try to sort out a squad that was all over the place. In a World Cup year, having just joined the club and the transfer window closing early.

Cruise ships heading in the wrong direction don’t turn around immediately. We had one of the poorest squads in the league and every aspect of the club was awful such as recruitment, player discipline, player fitness, connection with the fan base etc.

Although the league position is not good enough and the cup showings were awful there has been improvement in my view.

The recruitment in the summer window was very good. Yes we need a striker but no one can argue that the squad now isn’t immeasurably better than the one that started last season.

The away form has improved.

We’re getting less injuries (touch wood). We came into two derby games with near full strength teams to pick from and lo and behold we got two decent performances rather than previous seasons where we have been injury ravaged.

The derby performances have been better.

Players seem to be behind the manager. None were coming out in favour of Allardyce Koeman or Martinez towards the end.

The bond with the fans is slowly coming back. Schneiderlin got an ovation on Sunday FFS.

Calm heads seem to be prevailing on the football side. We seem to be pulling out of a downward spiral in a way that none of the previous managers post Moyes have managed.

This is only the third season since Moyes left that relegation hasn’t been even on the radar at any point (Martinez and Koeman first seasons the others)

At times we have matched top teams. Yes we’ve not created chances, yes we’ve not won, but we went to Old Trafford Anfield the Emirates Stamford Bridge and legitimately played football. Not just sit back 11 men behind the ball hanging on. We actually went and caused those teams problems imposing our play on them. We haven’t done that since Martinez’s first season.

Signs are there that we are moving in the right direction. Changing manager now would be absolute gross stupidity.

My marriage is failing and things are looking hopeless but I'm using that first line on her tomorrow. May buy me some time.

Standing ovation for that post.

....plus Moshiri, Walsh, Elstone, Kenwright, Koeman, Allardyce, Martinez....
