Even if Usmanov does come on board, I don’t think it will be anything like Man City. Not because of the FFP blag excuse, but because Usmanov talks about making profits, whereas City are happy to make as big a loss as possible.

True but success for us will make a profit, even just a league cup

Well technically it's true. UEFA's FFP does not apply in the Premiership but to be successful you really need to be playing in UEFAs competitions.

Plus the PL has its own rules, but they’re related to wage bill escalation rather than profit/loss

Remember that Alan Partridge episode where the tv programme commissioner was just about to sign off on one of Partidge's crackpot ideas for a new series ...and then keels over before signing it? That'd be us with Usmanov.
