If Silva is sacked - who could/should we get?

It makes me so sad that there are people who would prefer moyes or Big Sam over Arteta.
Moyes is clearly a better manager, and the odds are stacked against Arteta reaching his level. I mean, he is getting a first class apprenticeship, but the game is littered with guys with good pedigrees who fail in management. Even first class coaches who cannot make that step up through a mixture of bad luck, personality issues and resources . The reason guys like Sam and Moyes get jobs is they have done it when the chips were down, and on many occasions.

1 less point in the premier league than we did this stage last season. Crashed out of both cups in spectacular fashion, one a complete humiliation.

Current form suggests we could easily be dragged into a battle, our remaining fixtures are mainly teams fighting for Champions League places and trying to avoid relegation. All of whom will have more aggression, desire and drive to win that our lot. As we are going at the moment it's hard to see us getting wins against these teams.

There's no improvement compared to last season, it's not even on par to last season. He's offered absolutely nothing positive in our results or the way we're playing.

It’s actually much worse. We had a bad start, but had enough points on the board that Sam’s job was relatively straightforward. This season we had a pretty good start, a surprise after a horrendous preseason, but now it seems that was the blip rather than the preseason form. We should probably still stay up, but it is looking like a Walter Smith/Moyes season two points total than the UEFA push I expected.

so were Sheedy, Harper and Beardsley.

the very definition of one dimensional thinking.
By your logic we should have appointed Phil Brown after his great start in the Premier League, Silva after his hot start at Watford and John Barnes after he got SPL manager of the month a few months before it all went pear shaped! It is way too early to say whether Lampard or Gerrard are up to it

Hyperbole. 1 less point in a season when we finished 8th but suddenly we're dropping 10 places? We need 3 to 7 pts, I reckon even Unsy could come in and get that with this lot. We'll finish with about 44 to 46pts, still not good enough but certainly not what you're suggesting mate.
