Let's be honest, he's fell short of lofty expectations. Still a chance he can improve but how often does that happen with our players?
I think he's an intelligent footballer with good technique but right now there's something missing. I got carried away and thought we were getting the next Kanchelskis. That, he is most certainly not.
What?? Richarlison is our main goal threat. Without his goals this season we would be struggling. Bernard looks decent at times but he’s inconsistent and too often ends up offering very little.Really like him. Prefer him to Richarlison in fact.
The thing that's missing is that most of the time he's surrounded by absolute crap. Strikers are like statues, and others who wouldn't recognise an open space in front of them if it was...er...in front of them. When the rest wake up to the fact that they ARE technically good footballers, and need to avoid being in a coma every week, the value and skill and work rate of Bernard will pay magnificent dividends.
This is, for once, good business by the club: got him for nothing other than a decent wage; he's a name and he's been ok this season in the PL, though without getting on the scoresheet.
Even Brands could get a sale and profit under those circumstances.
His signings have been hit and miss from the point of view of ability:Brands actually earned his wage with this deal. Jury still massively out on Brands for me, but if he was a part of this deal which am sure he was, then hes done well. The Mina deal still worries me though.
Really smart pass to Davies for his assist for Richarlison.
His control and first touch is absolute sex as well![]()
