We had a few fifth place finishes with Moyes (not to mention an actual fourth place finish).

I remember the first season under Martinez as failure. We should have finished fourth, and we blew it. We murdered Arsenal 3-0 at Goodison, and drew 1-1 at their place, yet somehow managed to finish seven points behind them.
Moyes had 11years mate and his final one was awful to watch, this was Martinez 1st season watching great football.

I've seen so many people say that the manager needs time to purge us of the losers and wasters at the club and build his own team properly. Yes I can get behind that, but only with a manager that i have faith in.

The problem is i dont believe Silva is the man to do that, i don't have faith in him and I dont believe in any rebuilding process that he will play a part in. I've never believed in him but tried to give him the benift of the doubt. At this stage however it's painfully obvious that he's so far out of his depth that it's embarrassing.

We'd be doing both him and ourselves a favour to part company asap. No doubt we'll stick with him though till the end of the season though, because despite being utterly horrendous we're still safe from relegation. We can't keep relying on the league being this trash though, at some point the crap teams might actually get their act together and we'll be in serious trouble If we don't get our house in order before then.

Scary.

My perception if Zouma this year is that he is very shaky and reactive. But looking at that shows just how abysmal he has been. A disastrous signing.

Least it was just a loan. Mina cost £27m(?). Scary.

No one in that defence deserves any credit bar Digne. And he's been a bit off the boil of late.

That's not true. During the last Moyes season we played some great football at times, the first half away at Aston Villa I'd put up againt anything Martinez served up the flowing season. We had some great results, like beating Man Utd, Man City and Spurs, we ultimately finished 6th in 2012-13, a single league place lower then Martinez managed the following season. I'd never want Moyes back, but it's nothing short of revisionist history to say it was awful under Moyes prior to Martinez.

Crystal Palace seems to have the city of Liverpools number. They are the ones that just schooled us right after we beat Arsenal.

The "interesting" thing was that the issue then is the issue now. But teams pressed our fullbacks deep and we had no Plan B. Just like teams see that our fullbacks now are bombing up and nobody is really covering for them. Again, with no plan B.
They have a good manager!

Mate your picking 45mins of a game, most of Martinez season was outstanding just because it went tits up don't you rejig it for Moyes benefits.

Aside from the Wigan cup game and a period in January/Febuary 2013 we played pretty good football in Moyes's last season.

We were a striker short of doing anything though.

It was certainly better than what Martinez served up in his last two seasons

Dont know if these comments have been posted anywhere, I havent seen them - bit in bold sounds like he was working on defending set pieces

“I’m not the type of coach to point the finger. It’s not my way. I’m waiting for what I will say to the players.

"But at the level you are playing for this club, you have to be mature. We have to take our responsibility. Even with the big, big mistake of the referee at 2-2, we have to keep playing our game, not give them what they want every time, because every moment we apply our quality, we are better than them.

“When you spend a big part of the week preparing for what type of situations they can create problems for us, it’s a big disappointment for us.

“We have to take responsibility as a team and the players have to take their responsibility on the pitch. In the remainder of the season, I want to see more character. This is the moment to show it.

“I can imagine how our fans are feeling and all together we have to turn things around. Big fights will come. Maybe the character we showed in this game is not enough. In the bad moments, you see how many men, how many big characters and personalities you have to work at a big club like Everton.”

Worst game in memory was that Europa humiliation where they almost scored 10 goals by launching long diagonal balls!

He bottled every big game he was in,pat us on the head and said we should not be thinking we could go away and win at the big clubs.
