So many problems last night, not enough creativity, inability to get the ball to stick up front, individual battles lost across the pitch, moving the ball far too slowly, not enough movement - plenty of blame to go around for these failings.

But ultimately we’ve lost that game due to an inability to defend set pieces all game which falls squarely in the coaching department.

Sure it’s been put in here already, but this picture shows utter defensive incompetence - poor shape, no marking, players drawn to the ball, players not knowing their job.

....a picture that needs no words. A picture that should be put on the wall of the Coaches room at USM FF.

Because we can’t. We don’t have the players to outplay teams. The midfield is not good enough and the defence cannot distribute the ball effectively.

We do though mate.

We have decent footballers, and they're definitely good enough to outplay Millwall.

I have no idea why he didn't play 3-4-3. It's a system that allows us to have defensive solidity (well, as much as we can) and push further up the pitch. It also solves Gomes having to drop deep to split the CBs and leaving Gana as the further midfielder forward.

Lookman, Richarlison, Gylfi, Gomes, Digne etc. They're all much more comfortable trying to play actual togger than get into a physical battle.

Europe, clearly. That’s why we sacked a manager who finished 8th.

Why can you not get in your head that we didn't sack Sam because he finished 8th?

He'd have taken us backwards. He hated the fans. The fans hated him. The football was awful, we were just as bad defensively under him as we are now, as well, btw. He'd have invested any funds into players who are 28-30 on huge wages.

Whether or not Silva is the right man to have picked is looking extremely weighted to the answer being 'no' at the moment. But Sam didn't get sacked because we didn't qualify for Europe.

I'd argue we'd be doing better under Sam to be perfectly honest.

It wouldn't be pretty but the football now is just as bad and the defending is far worse.

Mid-table, Europe if we're lucky, rebuild, go again.

It 10000000000000% wasn't our aim this season to instantly go into Europe. Perhaps a very blue-tinted-specs kind of possibility, but unrealistic.

At this moment this isn’t rebuilding. It’s regression from Sam’s records.

That’s basically admitting that half the team isn’t comfortable playing football (which is true). Keane Gueye Coleman Zouma Calvert Lewin are very poor footballers and those conditions just exacerbated that. It’s absolutely inexcusable because they do nothing but train every week yet still Coleman cannot properly cross a ball, Keane can only use one foot, Calvert Lewin has very poor concentration which leads to poor touches, and Gueye struggles to complete 5 yard passes.

Our good players got bogged down and our rubbish ones got shown up. I’m still not sure why Bernard isn’t playing because he is for me the technically best player in the team.

‘We’re safe’ Being safe from relegation wasn’t the aim for the season. He’s been an utter disgrace. He’s far worse than Martinez and Koeman, which says a lot.
Of course he's been worse than our record breaking points accumulating manger...but he's only been here 6 months and has to undo the effects of Koemegeddon.
