In Silva I trust.

He’s got his critics and he has made mistakes. He’s a young hungry manager. He’s got the remainder of the season to turn around the critics and identify what he needs for next season. I would hope he knows what kind of striker he wants and additionally what CM partnership he would like to bring in.

It’s heen said his preferred CM scenario is two box to box CMs. He doesn’t have one at this time. I’m confident he gets in players to suit his preferred system and we will look better.

Perhaps the persistence with this 4-2-3-1 is playing to the strengths of what we do have.

Obviously, it isn’t working - but what other formations can we play to bring out the best of what’s available?

When he got 11th or 12th in May you will say give him money and next season. Having the blind faith to believe he will do a Klopp.

If he does go, and none of the elite managers want it, I would go for benitez.

Yes, yes it's defensive football and used to manage Liverpool, but if you give him money he tends to do well and win trophies.

Newcastle's most expensive signing is still Michael Owen from over 10 years ago and he is still keeping them in the league.

Has a track record of winning trophies and given money should continue that. His teams are hard to play against , may not be the preetiest but look at Marco Silva "enjoyable football".

What will it fix?
Ask man utd fans, ask man city fans after they sacked pellagrini. I suppose it depends on your levels of ambition.

I agree a new manager might not improve the playing side straight away but should that halt progression? The similarities between silva and martinez are shockingly similar and this was mooted before he was appointed.

The club must dig deep this time and get in a manager who
1. Ha's proven credentials
2. Has an identity
3. Has charisma
4. Is able to adapt (proof will show from previous roles if this is the case)
5. Has achieved a level sufficient in proper leagues not mickey mouse leagues

The above is only the minimum requirement, yes the appointment would cost a fortune but I'd rather that than buying another bunch of average players.

If you or others don't agree then that's fine, we all have our own thoughts but it should all come down to the basis of what you intend to accept as OK for Everton.

We can continue to plod on the way we have papering over cracks and ending up back to square one or we can decide to send in the demolition team and build a new structure from the bottom up led by brands initially.

This would take years to achieve but I would prefer this method than the current one. Otherwise we will spend another £100 + million and more than likely be back to this point at the same time next year.

The problems run much deeper than just the first team. The whole mentality has a rotten core and it needs sorting out starting this week and beyond.

I wouldn’t say blind faith, I just feel he could do a better job with some more better suited players to his style. That’s all.

I admit, I am being probably over ambitious in my want for him to turn it around. I can’t see how anyone can turn this mess around without players coming in to transform the first eleven.

As for Klopp, well as I’ve pointed out how positive I remain despite things being terrible - I’m not off my head haha. We hopefully have take small steps in the right direction with little or no errors, it’s the only way we bridge the gap on the teams above us.

If there was a quick solution to this, believe me I would be all over it. So faith, not blind faith.

He had shown nothing so far to suggest he will turn this around. This is getting to be like Martinez’s 2nd season as we witness the horrendous defence tactics.

He can’t beat the like in Newcastle and Watford at home guess what’d happen when we are due 5 home games against the top 6.

My expectations haven’t been high for a while, but even when we are playing well I class no game as a gimme. (Not that you class them as gimmes)

My expectations this season are low, however the reason they are low is due to the players on the pitch.

If you change the manager, are you expecting these players to turn it on? Because I am not.

I would expect Moyes to beat the crap teams at home and not being so weak when defending set-pieces.

Now we have 5 or 6 managers threads I guess the public have spoken and I suppose he must go.

Personally I can't believe we have turned into a fan base that is willing to sack a manager after what, a bad run of 12 or so games? We will never have something nice at this rate. If we were in 17th place then fine but we have to give him some time to turn it around. Our players don't seem the winter types so it's not really surprising. Let's get to the end of the season and then take stock of the situation.

I’m with you on the fact Marco can do more in certain aspects and hope we see him grow in the next few months - but I am prepared to let him improve us. It could be the making of him - And, like you suggesting he’s failed already - it could be the fact Brands removes him from post. I just want to see him try and make things better - but suspect this season it’s too late and that he doesn’t have the tools to do it. But, fully agree on set pieces that some things can be improved upon.

Because being utterly mediocre-bad is fantastic viewing.

Top clubs sack managers who underperform. It doesn't affect them. They keep going until the right manager sticks. Why should we be any different?

Should we just have stuck with Koeman, or Silva now even though we're being knocked out at the first hurdles of everything and showing signs of possible relegation battles?

No one demanding the best. We demand 7th and be able to beat crap at home this season.

It's right to demand that. I don't think its healthy for the club if we demand it at gun point. We need to build something and that requires patience. The fans have no patience right now and it could kill us. Maybe Marco isn't the right man to be patient with. But to sack him now would do much more harm than good. Managers with long term ambition, the type of ambition we need, would see it and swerve a hundred miles. Imo.

Top clubs used to have top managers or can attract top managers.

Who can we attract and who used to be a top manager for us?

For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul?

6. Is willing to work under a DOF who calls the shots on the transfer strategy

I believe the demolition is in process starting with last summer and to continue this summer. A manager being a roaring success this season would have been a bonus for them rather than an expectation.

All any manager had to do with us this season was to show some promise that they will be able to do much better when the rest of the squad refresh is done in the summer.

There was glimpses of the start of that right up to the Derby, but it's gone to pieces since then and I am sure they are working on possibilities for the next manager if they don't already have a list of wants.

Amazing as it sounds after yesterday's horror show.....if he gets a tune out of them between here and end of the season...wins more games....keeps more clean sheets...comes out of those home games with the head held high and we see some fight and confidence in the decent players we have....then he will be here next season.

Then he would hopefully be working with a squad where he is not having to choose between putting the star signing out of position or having to start Tosun or DCL because we miss two decent strikers. Where if any of our players are in a rut such as Walcott/Gomes/Siggurdsson/Coleman/Pickford have been this season he can look to the squad and see actual competition...not the unwanted bunch of averageness he has to work with now. Or players like them would be the subs he is looking too because we have gotten in players of potential good enough to take their first team spot. And at this point I am hoping we are looking at a different CB pairing also.

I'll be very disappointed if he can't manage that and it would be totally understandable to pull the trigger if so. I don't want another manager change at this point even if thankfully this time it shouldn't change the overall strategy on the squad.

A lot of the above is based on Brands being as good as hyped to be honest. Hoping he keeps us moving forward even if this manager fails come the summer.
