So you're happy with where we are and have been for the last 30 years or so?
Therein lies the problem. People are expecting a manager and his staff to turn something around that's 30 years in the making. We can say nil satis nisi optimum all we like but we need to be realistic. An entire generation have seen us go without winning a thing. I'd be amazed if we are competing with the top 6 next season and that's not a dig at the current staff, it's just we are so far behind them in the quality and number of quality players they all have. United are 6th and have players on their bench who would stroll into our first team.

What makes you think he can get EFC where we need and deserve to be on the evidence so far?

For starters... Digne, Richarlison, Bernard, Gomes, Mina and Zouma have improved the overall quality of the side. Secondly, performances away at Chelsea, Liverpool, Arsenal and Man United have been an improvement on seasons gone by.

Can't wait to see the next installment of players to come through the door next Summer!

Good test this after our dodgy December.

Everton win always gold, but a steely, shut-em-out draw from our back four wouldn't be the end of the world either. These are in good form and won the league after 38 games of people not taking them seriously.

Come on Ev, sneak it if you can please.

1-0.

I agree here. It's easy to get carried away after a few good signings or a decent run of home form but the reality is that we are a long way from breaking in to the top 6. Unfortunately although we've had to be patient for the last 2-3 decades, continued patience is going to be needed over the next few years until we move in to the new Stadium. It's at that point that I think we will have a genuine chance of closing the gap and potentially breaking in to the top 5 or 6, but even then it will require sensible and inspired signings by the manager/DOF and a good character and team spirit in our team.

This current side lacks enough quality and enough character to be anywhere near the top 6 at the end of the season. Man United are comfortably better than us and some on here have decided that because they had a stutter for a few months, we can get near them. Now they've got rid of Mourinho they've just put together a 3 game winning run, scoring 12 and conceding 3. We haven't done that all season.

Our ambitions over the next 2 seasons should be to fend off the rest of the chasing pack and establish ourselves as the 7th best side. We still have a very good chance of doing that this season, and if Silva manages to do so, then we will have made an improvement on last season. In the summer we can then strengthen again and i'd then like to hope that we'd achieve 7th next season with a bit more ease and better results. Not throwing away points to poor and average sides like we have done numerous times this season.

I'm still done in from Brighton so no chance am making today. If we play like we did the other day then Leicester will win by two or three. Good result needed here at all costs
