Plus, the RS have been very poor away in Europe so if that form continues that should make it difficult for them, especially if Bayern score at the pit.

Feb is a long time away. Bayern will either be stronger under Kovac or could be completely different under a new manager (Zidane or Conte for example). Either way it’s a far different proposition than Porto last time. Bayern will expect to go through. The only thing they have to guard against is complacency.

Despite their current form they’re still more likely to win the CL (or the FA cup) than the prem. the best team nearly always wins the prem and over another 21 games you’d still expect that to be City. However with the two legged system, a governing body enthralled to their history and tv following, plus the prospect of not having to win a single away game but still making the final they’re still a bigger threat in the CL than the prem. Ideal scenario is that they’re already behind in the league by Feb and Klopp breaks his team trying to overcome Bayern whilst City cruise last Schalke and they have an Arsenalesque week where their season effectively ends in 7 days.

Klopp’s European away record is awful. If Bayern can stay in the tie at Anfield it will be difficult for Liverpool to progress.
