Cenk tosun prem record, 25 games 7 goals= goal every 3.57 games
Oumar Niasse 44 games 12 goals= goal every 3.66 games

BUT BUT BUT NIASSE IS A BOSS SCORER

they are BOTH rubbish and BOTH are not good enough

close thread

Appreciate the sentiment of the post there mate but included in those stats I'm sure you'll find in terms of minutes played rather than games they've been involved in Niasse will have a better strike rate.

I agree both are not good enough but Niasse has at least proved he is half decent as an impact sub.

Yet again stats proving nothing.

44 games is great and all that but a lot of them will be 5-10 minutes here and there.

You asked for proof, it was given and you still ignore it!

Nobody is saying either is good enough, but if you are after a goal when chasing a game Oumar is your man.

I don't even see how this is debatable to be honest, the evidence is right there!

I am not remotely saying start him every game or anything. The bloke gets chances one way or another. Its that or we just carry on huffing and puffing without posing any threat.

regardless of minutes I know overall niasse probably has a better goal a minute ratio but itll be close, my point is tosun is perceived as being not good enough with a very similar outlay, yet people seem to think niasse is this machine of a goal scorer ( yet he has a very similar record )

I get what your saying and he is an option, just not a very good one IN MY OPINION

Martinez didn't rate him
Koeman didn't rate him
fat sam didn't rate him
silva doesn't rate him

now they all can't be wrong but a couple of lids on the forum think he's sound

He can be sound without people thinking he is boss. I think that's what people misunderstand with stuff like this.

Obviously I cant speak for everyone but I assume that those who do back him as not being a "clown" or "useless" like me see him as what he is, a role player. A player who can come on and make things happen. It baffles me that people cant see that when it happened as recent as last season. Actually even when it was happening some people still didn't want to admit it, it was really weird.

He has a fairly unique knack of getting chances. No matter how bad he plays or how bad he is perceived to be he always ends up having a good chance in a game when being brought off the bench. I don't think we should ignore that personally. I don't care how he does it either as long as it happens. There are players who do stuff like this. He has a certain ability in a certain area regardless of the rest of his game.

this is gonna go full circle mate

I honestly do get what your saying, BUT for all the " he makes things happen, he scores goals, he's a role player" he STILL has an almost identical ratio as tosun who in many peoples opinion just isn't good enough. so he cant be that much of a option to have?

if he had a far better ratio and was still as bad as he is technically I'd understand why people would want him in but it's basically replacing rubbish with rubbish

we as fans have a habbit of doing it with everyone

happened last year with klaasan, he started a few games and was utterly dire, he never played for x amount of months and everyone was craving for him to come back ( he come back to a few minutes at the end was useless and then sold )

His minutes to goal ratio is much better though, and not all those games were in the role I am talking about anyway. I have already said he is not a player you ideally want to be starting games.

The major difference with Klaasen is that he actually did nothing when he was here so there was nothing to base these cravings off. Those who support Niasse in what he can bring to the table are actually basing that on things that have actually happened!

I think you're kind of missing the point though.

Nobody is suggesting Niasse is a great player, or even that he's better than Tosun. What they're saying - and I agree, personally - is that he makes a bigger impact as a sub. He has a habit of getting on the end of things, and his general unpredictability makes him a bit of a nightmare for defenders when we have teams on the back foot. All the goals per game stats you're talking about are irrelevant in that sense, because Niasse isn't the type of player who will get a goal through giving the backline a working over and eventually getting a reward, he's the type of player who just seems to have a knack of getting on the end of things. Some players are suited ot making an impact of the bench, and he's one.

Tosun averages a goal every 226 minutes, Niasse averages one every 159 minutes.

Don't know where people are saying Niasse is a goal machine like but his record in the prem for us given his limited game time isn't bad at all and surpasses Tosun's comfortably. I'd sell Niasse to the highest bidder in January but I think he's more of a threat than Tosun and he's unlucky not to be making the bench.

I think it might be worth putting him on the bench over the Xmas period and if we need something different bring him on. However my hope is that he will be sold in the window and we get a new 1st choice striker. We should always be looking to improve but while he is here we should make use of him!
