In one summer we signed:

Digne
Mina
Zouma (loan)
Gomes (loan)
Bernard
Richarlison

Thats 6 players...im not sure City signed that many starters in a window?

If we are able to permanently sign Zouma and Gomes + 4 more by the end of next summer then i would suggest that we're surpassing City in the speed and efficiency that were improving the team.

If the 4 signings (i hope) come in to fill positions we need strengthening and are of the same or better quality than those we signed in the last window id go as far as saying that our 1st 11 would be superior to Spurs and Arsenals current 11s.

On paper at least we should be competing for 4th-6th position next season...if the recruitment is as outstanding as in the summer.

The players have improved too.

Keane a prime example of what coaching and belief can do to a player.

Lookman, Davies, DCL etc will have all gained an extra year of experience.

I think it will just be minor tweaks rather than big recruitment.

We need rid of lots of deadwood on loan.

In any case i said if we signed an additional 4 top players of the calibre we had in the summer.

Id guess that Sanchez Alli and Kane would still be the best in their positions but we'd have 8 better.

How about arsenal ?

I think the most important bit was where he said about success being as a team. The same applies to the backroom staff. Brands on his own won't make Everton a success. We need the manager, coaches etc to all be together. Definitely didn't seem to be the case under koeman and especially not under Allardyce. Hopefully we are getting there.

Tbf, this season, lloris is debateable. Been a massive fan of him but he's been a mess the start of this season. Can't really argue with the rest. Arsenal on the other hand? That's a lot closer. Take out that front 3 of theirs and we'd be going for a clean house.

As i said before, if we could sign Zouma and Gomes then add 4 more players of the same quality as any of the permanent signings by the end of next summer then we'll have a first 11 on paper which is superior to Spurs and Arsenal at this time.

Tell that to Man City, Chelsea and PSG, Utd etc.

Nothing wrong with wanting to see us successful again.

We for years and years buillt successfully a squad under Moyes to only be left behind in the space of 2-3 seasons by Man City.

There's a difference between buying well and having the financial backing to succeed in this money league.

We are.not in that league yet....you sound so impatient. Going to take a while yet to recover from the martinez/koeman/bfs disasters.....what did you expect???

If Brands can sign Gomes and Zouma.

Add in a starting top class Right back (Wan Bissaka/Militao/Pavard) along with a right forward (Lozano) then we'll have more 'better players' in the first 11 than either Spurs or Arsenal (even though id say its 6-5 in our favour for both) without argument.

We would still require another excellent midfielder such as Neves or Ndombele to offer options and take us up a level + a centre forward to rotate with Richarlison.

Im hoping Brands doesnt only focus on January sales but goes for Zouma + Gomes and 2 more starters.

Palace look ripe with no goalscoring threat and Wan Bissaka a potential signing for us...PSV will be out of Europe so perhaps Lozano could be on the cards?
