Lukaku - Love affair over ?

Muscle, or too many chips ?

I nearly posted something about this the other day when I was watching him and thought he looked absolutely massive but I thought it was probably just me . I’ve no idea whether it’s muscle or not , you’d suspect so , but even if it is he’s put on some size and that must have an impact.

There's always something else that he needs isn't there? Different fans, different team mates, new managers, systems that suit his style of play, a different league.

Of course he scores goals: one of the most expensive strikers in world football should be doing that as a bare minimum.

The fact that our strikers aren't very productive at the moment is no counterargument to people highlighting the significant deficiencies in lukakus game.

That's without even mentioning his attitude.

I don't get this, and I'm not defending him, but he's only been at a few prem clubs, he hardly got any game time at Chelsea, but he always said he wanted to stay and fight for his place, went on loan to West Brom, got his head down, and did the bizz there, loaned to us, got his head down, and did the bizz, signed for us permanently, did the bizz, and then had a proper whinge the last few months of his time with us, so in reality the only time he's had a proper moan at a club was towards the end of his time with us.

Also, there can be a case for him being cheesed off at Man U (if he actually is) at this moment in time. I said it before on here, but my missus's dad and brother are Man U fans, and they've both said that the way Mourinho has them set - up doesn't suit Lukaku because he's always having too drop deep looking for the ball, and when he is making runs, or is in space Man U players aren't releasing the ball quick enough, so you could understand if he's frustrated.

Thing is if you spend £100m on a striker then you'd hope dropping a bit deeper wouldn't be too much of an issue.

It absolutely is an issue, and that's exactly why hes not worth the money they spent. We absolutely rinsed them.

he's deffo got extra beef on him and i don't think it's helped his game: made him less agile, while the strength benefits appear minimal. A world-class striker in todays' game needs agility more than strength.

Expecting a striker too drop deep now and again to help out shouldn't be a problem. It's a problem though when he's having too drop deep because he's isolated (how many times did we say that when he was with us) or team mates aren't getting the ball up to him quick enough, or making enough chances for him, at the end of the day he's paid to score goals. Saying that though, 20 goals in 42 prem games up to now isn't a bad return.

We did rinse them, could easily be said for the majority of transfers this day and age though.

Because he has a cracking scoring record? I'm sure a lot of clubs in world football would want him.

Yeah but Unfortunately sometimes the best teams in world football have to play against sides with half decent centre halves or play in the odd semi final..... of which Mr Lukaku seems to lose his special goalscoring powers.

But yeah.... if getting goal stats boosted against teams you expect to beat then Rom is your man.

Every school playground has a lukaku.... looks brill in fa doubles with little Jimmy in goal cos no one would partner him outfield.... stick him in the school side and he turns to mush.

I would like this post 1000 times if I could. 100% spot on. Always something with this lad.....

Change the playing style for me
Put fellaini up front with me
Sign better players to supply me
A different manager suits me
We need the fans with us

He needs to start watering down his milk again.

Best Everton striker of the Premier League era.

All at 21/22.

He's in another league to the Tosuns, Jelavics etc we've had to endure. That's why he commanded a huge fee, an why he's leading the line for the worlds biggest club under one of the games most decorated managers.

Of course he's never going to be an Aguero or Suarez, he's a different type of striker an you either play to his game, or you don't.

He still has 10 years left in his game and for me, other than his comments on international duty - is a model professional. He shown more loyalty to Everton than most - he gave us another season for us to put up or shut up. We then signed Enner Valencia.

Oh, and he's not going to win anything at Man Utd anytime soon. Sticking around under Mourinho's 3rd season sinking ship awaiting a manager who might not fancy him.

He'd be a fool to not want/consider a move to Juventus - league title and an actual shot at actually winning the champions league.
