New Everton Stadium - Hill Dickinson Stadium

Would be nice to have some positive news before Christmas.

The financing is obviously a major stumbling block even with Council assistance.

I’m clinging on to no news is good news.

We have a "billionaire" who knows "other" billionaires.

How could it possibly go wrong with funding? :coffee:

We’ll have the finance sorted within a few months, according to DBB and a planning application shortly afterwards! Absolute bollocks. This is going nowhere, very slowly.

So the WHU and Man City stadium acquisitions were illegal under EU rules then?

No mate. Both stadiums were built by the respective councils with Central Government funding as part of a public project. City’s stadium was sold many years later as part of a larger land deal for their owners to invest in improving east Manchester which they’ve continued to do. West ham’s Stadium is still owned by the council and rented to them. Under Uncle Joe’s proposal the council would be lending a private business central government money (which until brexit happens is effectively EU money (or governed by eu rules) so although it would be good for local jobs and for LCC too it’s not a true public infrastructure project. Investment in the wider North Liverpool area would be ok but loaning the money direct to EFC for a stadium enters the grey area of eu state aid to a private business. Had our city won the commonwealth games then Joe’s plan would easily have passed the rules etc

I’m guessing the burning question out there is: what’s a quadrilateral with only one pair of parallel lines?

...that’s a trapezium (although our American colleagues call it a trapezoid).

I don’t recommend our new stadium’s pitch be trapezium shaped ...although given Everton’s luck, I would not be surprised if that’s how it turns out...Everton that

Glad someone has finally asked the burning question, has bother enme most of my life :)

There exists a trapezium possessing an axis of symmetry (believe it or not) . It occurs when the sides adjacent to the parallel pairing are equilateral ...(but not themselves parallel!!) .
It’s called an isosceles trapezium and if you are fearful of the occult and other arcane contemplations, the isosceles trapezium is NOT something you want to incorporate into any new stadium designs.

A look at the footprint from above makes Goodison an irregular polygon, having 8 sides...one or two of them not very straight.
Just sayin like.

Goodison is not unique in this regard. For instance, the state of Colorado appears a rectangle on a US map...but it’s in fact a VERY irregular polygon (697 sides)
Just sayin’ like...
