Don’t see anything wrong with the interview at all. People were complaining we hadn’t see or heard from him since he was introduced to the media with Silva back in June. He spoke honestly about our dealings and addressed some misconceptions floating around in the media in regard to Mina’s transfer. Having addressed the first team squad, he is now going to focus on our academy. To me he has his priorities right. First team issues needed addressing, he has attended to that, he can’t sign any more players till January, so in the meantime he will oversee the academy and it’s structure.

@Neiler has a point here. This round of interviews is straying very close to being a celebration of the cult of the individual.

I did this, I did that.

Erm, just 'kin do it and crack on.

I want to hear from the manager of Everton FC and what he thinks about the club and his players not a pen-pusher.

@Neiler

whilst I understand the wish to see action and not words, and the preference that they shut up and win us a trophy......in fairness it's pretty common that a DOF in other leagues talk to the press. I've seen half time interviews during games in La Liga with them at times. I would imagine this guy wouldn't see anything out of the ordinary in talking like this.

And whilst I also understand the wish to avoid personalities like Ronald who care about themselves more than the club, I would imagine that a higher profile as DOF would assist in opening more doors in the footballing world? It's a possibility no, rather than just assuming he is just bigging himself up?

However, as I've said before....until they win us something and/or start attacking and beating those top 6 teams then they can all do one...Mosh, Silva and Brands. I want sexy football and a trophy. Shut up until we have it.

But what @davek says - only time will tell. However, this is not solely an Everton problem. Every club is faced with this dilemma but the most important things that came out of Brands interview - as I recall @catcherintherye (but I may be quoting incorrectly!) - is that (a) having put an offer in on Mina we stuck to it and didn't allow ourselves to be cajoled into upping it even leaving it to the wire and (b) the most expensive players do not make a team. Look at Pogba at Man Utd, a player who was more than happy to return there for a massive fee and salary and yet only 18 months or so later now thinks he is better than the club, is engineering a move and probably causing no end of disharmony in the dressing room.

I would sooner have a squad of journeymen 'team' players who pull together and fight each other's corner than one consisting of a mixture of prima donnas who show up on the pitch when it suits.

One cool dude, I for one am glad we've got him. And I don't see why Man United could give their version and innuendo of why they didn't sign Mina, agent fee's, buy back clauses etc. And Brands not give our version and answers to our fans, imo United through a few slurs our way and Brands answered them, no big deal really.

Jesus Christ some of you lot have issues.

I like the bloke, I’m happy with our business, excited for the future and I don’t believe there’s some intense Everton conspiracy that’s been holding the club back for the last 25 years.

  1. Spend two years bemoaning a lack of transparency in terms of strategy from the club.
  2. Have a DoF come and explain his strategy post window and address some of the criticisms that were thrown his way and the issues he saw in the window.
  3. Go mental that the DoF has come out and delivered transparency into his work over the summer.
The Everton Way.

That wasn't my point

Goat was saying he didn't think we were ever interested in Tierney

Brands has confirmed we were

No way Marcel will publicly comment on an unsuccessful transfer out of respect for the player and the club he is still playing for. It will be towing a low line and lack of respect. I don’t expect much of tierney to come out in public to be honest.

The Barcelona defender we miss out is totally different. No disrespect to anyone even if it’s been leak out.

No, you`re wrong and it`s led by Baines and Jagielka.

I know this because @davek said it`s true, so therefore it must be.

I’m fully aware we want him.
What I’m trying to say is that it will never be talk in depth in public on how we conduct the approach. Many people will only believe after the full story is blown out in public in order to believe 100%. We don’t need to go that far. Just a little comment in the report is enough to convince.

I did this, I did that.

If you have to tell the world you are billy big time, you probably arent billy big time in my experience.

Director of Football Marcel Brands has praised the work of Chairman Bill Kenwright, Chief Executive Officer Dr Denise Barrett-Baxendale, Major Shareholder Farhad Moshiri and the Club’s Board in looking to “build a strong Everton for the future” after seven new signings were brought in before the close of the summer transfer window.

“For me, it was a great help to have the Chairman because I spoke to him an average of 10 times a day.

“We had very good communication and, of course, I am happy with the people around me - and happy the owner makes it possible along with the work from Denise and the Board.

“I was very impressed, especially on the last day, with the people alongside me - the legal team, the finance team. I’m very grateful that they were there, otherwise we wouldn’t have managed [to complete the deals].

End of story.
