I bow to the vastly superior footballing knowledge on this forum, but whilst i have seen this lad do a few tricks and shimmy’s, i have seen nothing else from him to afford him the rep he has with a section of this forum? I am obviously missing something, because to me all this kid has is promise, in my eyes he is nowhere near being a confirmed starter?

to be fair, it's hard to show what you can do when you don't get played over donkeys like bolasie

I dont disagree with that mate, nor am i questioning the possibility that the kid could be great, its just that i have seen very little of him (and i suspect most on here would say the same if they were honest) so i dont see why there is such a clamour to play him? I wouldn’t put him in ahead of Richarlison or Walcott, and have seen nothing to suggets he could play in the centre or up front?

no I deffo agree what you mean, but as good as Walcott is I think he goes missing in some games, it's the reason why it didn't work at arsenal, he'd be boss 1 week and crap the next, id start bringing him on for Walcott early doors if he has a quiet game and give him a few starts in his place. we've deffo got enough options for rotation now which is a good thing

Sometimes the media get wind of a story and run wild with it.

I expect the manager will make his selections based on what he sees every day on the pitches at Finch Farm. Lookman was not on the bench last weekend and Sandro was for a reason.. probably related to effort at training , but it just might be tactical.
Lookman needs to be very careful that he doesn't end up with the under 23s as Leipzig seem to be intent on signing at a bargain basement price and Everton do not seem to want to sell.

As we`ve shipped lots of the dead wood out and some on big wages / long contracts > Klaasen, Rooney etc, we don`t need to sell him, so the ball really is in our court with this one.

It really is a strange one. We are seen as a club that gives youth a chance. We have a new manager and DOF so it can hardly be them he has a problem with and it isn't as if he was never ever given a chance under previous manager but failed to impress enough to start on a regular basis whereas DCL, Kenny, Davies and Holgate all were involved in the first team when fit.

My hope is that there is no problem at Finch Farm at training every day and that manager and player have reached an agreement for the season ahead but the media have not caught up yet and possibly Leipzig are trying to stir up a little unhappiness as well.
It looks as if Lookman could be one of three specialist wide men with Richarlison and Walcott and that should mean he will get plenty of chances over the season.

He needs to show it in training which he must not be doing at the moment, his time will come but he just has to make sure his attitude is right at that time
I think that’s what’s currently holding him back. Ability wise what he showed on loan last season, he is at least worthy of a place on our bench. Maybe his attitude pre-season suggests he isn’t.

Maybe a run of games from the start would benefit him...but as said he needs to sort out his temperament and attitude in training before he can expect to start ahead of some of the others. I suspect Marco and Brands see that, know there is a player there hence the unwillingness to release him but he must be on borrowed time so needs to start proving himself in the managements eyes soon. Perhaps 'buddying' him up with the Black Prince will teach him how to develop the right attitude but he must want to in himself.

Also factor into that, he fact that Silva has gone " over board " with his praise for the lad too.

I don`t remember him saying any of the other youngsters were the " future of the club ".

You really can`t get much higher praise than that.

It`s all very odd.

I’m not too concern with lookman to be honest.

He’s not crying out for champions league Football.
He’s not sulking over Low wages.

All he wants is to play more often and that is well within our control. His time will come sooner or later. We haven’t reach the stage of not able to fulfil his ambition yet.

A lot of you need to calm down, just a kid wanting to play more often and feel appreciated.

I think he came with a good rep with potential for the future. Scored early against Man City, which is great but nothing to getting carried away over since that day City were a mess, but some think he is going to be immense now and we can't lose him.
O and he scored for England U23 or something. He seems decent but I can't see why anyone is bothered if he leaves, it's not like he is doing the dirty on us, we were happy for him to go to Germany when really that was the time we might of needed him, not now

So, reward him for having a strop and put him before the team? That would go down a storm.
