..i’m his worst critic but the lad played well yesterday, despite the disruption of losing his defensive partner. I wouldn’t criticise him for their 2nd goal, sometimes the quality of the cross takes a defender out.

He played well, needs to do this on the reg. exciting to know we have Zouma & Mina to come in. Even Digne who looks better defensively than Baines.

We owe Southampton a hiding next week and I hope the boy Keane can get some retribution.

If he’d focussed on staying touch tight on his man & jumped, he’d have prevented the goal.

Instead, the second the cross came, he turned his back on Jimenez & was drawn to the ball, allowing Jimenez to peel off him.

Had he not completely misjudged the flight of the ball, he’d have got away with it, but he did.

2 cardinal sins for any CB. No matter how well he did for 89 minutes, that undid it all.

Mina & Zouma next week.
Nah not having that.

Spot on... The "he had a great game other than costing us 3 points" attitude is why we haven't won anything in years...

Absolute nonsense.

If he’d stayed touch tight :-

1. Jimenez would have tried to peel off and gone down, risking a penalty.

Or

2. Neves would have dropped it on the other guys head.

And he didn’t misjudge the flight. A top quality international under no pressure at all was given time and space to deliver an inch perfect cross. Which he did.

You’re the one talking nonsense.

1. I said stay touch tight, not foul him.
3. Keane was marking Jimenez. It’s up to others to mark up. If he sees an unmarked man, he can scream at teammates, but he has to stay with his own man.
3. He went to head the ball, which was out of reach. Jimenez got himself to where the ball was coming down.

Utterly clueless about football and utterly deluded about your status.

Poisonous fan base. No wonder people take the kick out of you for your booing and your fume. I don’t think you know the meaning of the word “support”.

Keane came into our team at Burnley and wasn’t great at first. But we stuck with him, he got used to the system and we sold him for 15 times what we paid for him after he’d played for England

Tarkowski came into the team ..... and guess what ..... he wasn’t great at first. But we stuck with him, he’s played for England and we’ll probably sell him for 15 times what we paid for him.

Structure, repetition, drilling ...... the cornerstone of any successful defence.

At Everton he’s :-

1. Had 4 managers.
2. An ever changing set of partners.
3. A bad injury.
4. A set of fans who smash him verbally for everything.

What do you expect? He’s a human being, not a robot.

Now I know your response ...... that’s all well and good for Burnley, but we’re Everton. Well i’m sorry to dispel you of a few notions, but right now you’ve got a hell of a lot more in common with Burnley than you do the top 4.

So what if you spend six months drilling a defensive unit to get it right and him up to speed? So you finish 8-10th again? That’s your history over the last quarter decade. If you want to change the recent history you’re going to have to do things differently, because chopping and changing and smashing your own players for every perceived mistake has got you here.

I see people on here calling him a coward? Unbelievable. Whoppers hiding behind a keyboard calling a guy that, who is doing stuff you couldn’t dream of in front of a TV audience of millions.

Madness.

I don't think there's ever been a doubt about his ability in a low block team, full backs tight to the CBs and conceding crosses- a system Burnley played to perfection last season. No sarcasm. You deservedly got top 7.

My issue is that we play two full backs high up the pitch. When the ball is turned over, the space they leave behind means out CBs have to be mobile and comfortable coming into wide areas for 1v1s. Then they have to react and get back into position.

It's these attributes Keane has shown no real quality in and why we doubt whether he'll make it.

Thought he was much better yesterday. Hopefully the increased competition and a steady presence next to him helps him to keep improving

No worries about sarcasm man, that’s exactly what we are. I often tell my Old Man we’re that well drilled I could play centre-back for us and i’m 39.

I take your point about your full-backs. My counter to that would be that if your full backs are doing that your CDM has to protect your centre-back or he has to drop in to allow your centre-half to sweep across and cover the full back.

Now I understand your none too enamoured with Schneiderlin, and whilst you all seem to like Gana the suggestion is he’s a bit indisciplined. So if he’s not sweeping across maybe that’s the reason?

I’m not saying he’s perfect. I suspect he is a quiet, shy lad at times. Put it this way though ...... the Keane who played for Burnley was a level about Tarkowski last year. So there is definitely a player there.

I just think he’s been given a bad press by a lot of your fans. Your situation last year was utter chaos and anybody would be hard-pressed to thrive in that environment. I didn’t watch it all yesterday but he played quite well ...... in tough circumstances lest we forget ...... and when I see people hammering him for the goal and calling him coward it bemuses me.

I have Coleman and your centre-mid’s primarily at fault for not closing Neves down. Then Neves, a top player, delivers a top ball in perfectly right on the end of Jimenez’s run. If you’re expecting him to stop that then you might as well pack up and go home because any centre-back is going to struggle when Neves is given time to do what he wants 25 yards out.
