Underhanded from Barca but smart at the same time.

They're perfectly showing the issue with this early window close. European teams can sit back and laugh at English clubs panicking knowing the deals have to be done by tomorrow whereas the rest of them can sit back, relax and create bidding wars over players who even if they don't join a side in the UK will still sell for initial value to another european team in the remaining month of the window.

Why they thought this was a smart idea to stop teams moaning at the beginning of the season about players being unsettled is ridiculous when the rest of europe can still bid on players for the whole month anyway.

I like the window closing before season starts, granted it would be better if all European leagues did the same

Idea's in the right direction but not when only UK sides are doing it and have no ruling to prevent bids from sides still in an active window.

Wouldn't be surprised to see more panic deals like Chelsea's today.
