Messi "best player of all time"

He looked a beaten man during the anthems. Probably every reason to feel that way given the fella who's in charge.

How anyone could seriously suggest he was the equal of Maradona I have no idea.

Imagine Maradona against that Croatian team. He'd have been slaloming in and out of them all night and covering every blade of grass on the pitch to get the result.

Messi has top class around him for all his international career and does absolutely f.a. to turn it into a WC win.

And it's an absolute nonsense to even suggest he's Ronaldo's equal. Ronaldo inspired a Euros win from a lot less talent in that Portuguese squad two years ago.

Great player Messi, no question. However, he is WELL down the pecking order in terms of all time best.

He is a couple of levels above Ronaldo david. You just have to watch them both play the game week in and week out.

The most consistently great player in the history of the sport.

Whether he is the very best is very hard to prove. Different eras and all that.

Best I've ever seen though. Thats for sure
how do you account for that disgusting lack of effort tonight as captain of his nation? serious question, would be interested in any theories, but he was a complete disgrace

couldn't watch it as im stuck in a basement office in the back arse of nowhere in Pennsylvania.

was hoping he might brighten my day....but nope!

So I've no idea

Not a chance.

CR7 is miles ahead.

Both have done it Spain
CR7 has done it in the Prem and the International stage, its not even up for debate any longer.

Messi is a wonderful, wonderful player tho.

As I said.

You just have to watch them play the actual game. What they do with the ball. How they control games.

He is well above Ronaldo.

Messi scores goals for fun just like Ronaldo, but is also one of the best playmakers in the history of the game. For me it is as simple as that. Him not playing in a different team and falling just short in 3 finals after bringing his team that far does not outweigh the big difference in what they actually do with a football each week.

Ive watched what they have both done with the football for the last 10 years mate, but CR7 carried his team 2 years ago and hes carrying them now.

Eh, none of them have ever turned up for him. He's been dragging through tournaments for years. Aguero scored his first World Cup goal against Iceland despite playing eight before that.

Only have to look to 2014 too. Ragged them through every game, got to the Final and when he got some 'support,' they missed a good handful of sitters.

Okay. I don't fully agree its as simple as that in regards to Ronaldo. His team mates aren't donkeys. Neither are Messis despite people putting down them and his coaches when excusing him. He was decent in the tournament two years. I don't think he was exceptional. He has not set the international stage alight and has had many many weak games in qualification. Likewise Messi has been nowhere near as bad for Arg as seems to be repeated.

Wouldnt you agree though that simply when it comes to what they do within the 90 minutes each week with a football that Messi ability wise is a couple levels above?
