Apologies.

We upgraded our servers memory to improve the site for next season - it really needed doing and we knew it would cause 20/30 mins downtime.

On reboot, we were getting hammered by 'traffic', we thought was bots re-indexing the site after some downtime. This emerged to actually be a pretty significant opportunistic DDoS attack.

Please excuse any intermittent downtime today as server admins patch/upgrade various elements of the server to get us as stable as possible.

If you missed GOT while it was down, and have adblock enabled (or it is forced enabled in work an you dont have a forum upgrade...) - you know what to do ;)

Not really my pay grade, the witchcraft side of stuff. But if we kept that sort of white page thing, the Bots will stop. Now we dont have it, they seem to be a daily thing.

I only know that cos the crossword site I use had the same issues, so they just keep the white page thing. Seems to work.
