Sole responsibility. The mental gymnastics going on here to link bottles thrown at a coach and a few cringey flares to a mob swinging belts and putting a 50+ year old man in hospital is staggering. No doubt the lads giving the old Nazi salute outside JLA were incensed that the attacked coach was a german brand which lead them to these actions.

Roma have a reputation as bad as any on the continent for violence. I know some lads who are going to the 2nd leg and I'm worried for them.

Didn’t Roma stabbed loads of spurs just because they wanted to a couple of years ago ? I’ve no doubt there would be trouble whatever but every action does have a reaction and things are amplified and made worse . If there is trouble at a European home leg it’s usually worse at the away , that’s a given isn’t it ? I’m certainly not defending Roma at all but I think some of the observations are reasonable and genuinely I Do think some of us thought that this would happen and in part , only in part , the displays would have contributed to it.

Amongst italian fans I met when over there when living in Genoa, there is a strong dislike for spurs, due to their jewish connection, only amongst a certain element I must stress but it did exist

Bbc doing an article saying "just give salah the balon d'or now. Just so one eyed and biased, Ronaldo has been on another level once again scoring more than one a game in a much tougher league and how champs league scoring record has been brilliant against much tougher teams.

The RS haven't played any European heavyweights yet, how you can get to the final without having to play any of
Real, barca, bayern, juve, psg, atletico, united and we can even add the two Milan teams with their prestige. Its been an easy ride. Ronaldo has had to play some great teams this comp.

To be honest, when they get like that, they would do anyone at anfield. I actually think if they get Bayern in the final they will walk it.
Bayern had an even easier run

No massive upping of the intimidating presence around Anfield by the Kopites = no gang of murderous ultras from Roma targeting that area. Seems a fairly logical equation to most people.

I think that is what winds me the most up about them to honest, the self claimed, everyone hates us vibe!

You would have to be a fool to say they aren't playing some fantastic football at the moment, only more amplified by us having to sit through that dross on Monday. And honestly i actually think what Salah has done he should be in contention for it.

There self entitlement though works for them big time, we are the complete opposite, its the peacock affect, and it rubs off, from the manager to the player, to the fans, everyone thinks they will win everything.
Were as us, we like to yell abuse at our 19 year old players for not putting it in the net from 40 yards, while across the park, all there players feel 10 feet tall, especially there own 19 year old Trent Alexander Arnold

Are they crying victims again, over the sad events of the 53yr old guy?
My thoughts are well and truly with him, but will the rats accept their actions in whipping up hysteria for the City arrival, would have played a massive part in what happened last evening. Ye reap what ye sow, I think it says.

Not trying to score points either but that is very true. I doubt for one moment the Liverpool fans even considered that the trouble in Rome in 1984 went some way towards causing the actions at Heysel in 1985, even if they cry foul when the blame is apportioned for that. The cause and effect from the City game will have brought out the worst in the Roma fans yesterday and, having been invited to a shindig on WBR they came armed for a fight - it's a great shame and clearly the visiting fans accepted the invitation to be complete divvies.

I think you’ve nailed it with the last paragraph; fans, players and managers feel the entitlement and it creates a desire

We’re talking about a club whose last title was 2 years after us, almost 30 years ago. Yet they believe they should win it every year, were we have fans who happy with Sam Allardyce being appointed.

They've always had a knack of coming up with top class strikers. That, as I see it, has kept a pretty ropey outfit for the last 30 years in or near to the elite.

Agree to disagree Dave as I don't think it would've lessened the presence of murderous Italians. Much like the Split fans at the Old Lady this year. Hooligans will be hooligans without provocation from us.

Indeed. I'd think twice about going.

It's not just that. We have fans who believe we should be in the top four every season...or certainly to target it. The difference historically is that they had a) the pulling power of a name from a generation ago and b ) a lot of cash to make things happen....which they wasted a hell of a lot of, btw.

There are structural factors as well as self-belief/high demands explanations.

Anyway, the winner SF tonight - the tie that the CL will be determined in. Hoping Madrid do it and that Ronaldo goes on to lift a third consecutive trophy and eclipse his diminutive rival Messi's achievements. Both on four CL wins, Ronaldo must be fancying that fifth....and a sixth Ballon d'or to go one better than Messi's five.
