Sir Landon Of Donovan

What area would that be? We already have cover in every positon apart from LB where Neville can play as cover since he was an England International there. The main thing we are missing and have missed for a long time is pace and Donovan gives us that as well as being able to play a lot of roles.

Funny enough, left back mate. Beckford will give us pace. Anichebe, Bily, Pienaar, Gueye all play on the wide of midfield.

Like I said in my post I think that Neville will be good enough cover ther for us not to need to buy another LB. If we buy a new LB he would probably want to be playing. If he is not good enough to want to be playing then I doubt he would be better than Neville would be there. Also with Neville being here already it would mean we dont need to bed in a new player and get someone used to the Everton way. It would also give Garbutt and Bidwell time to prepare to battle for the LB spot. Pace is what we are really missing in attack and Landon gives us that.

I wouldn't be too comfortable with Neville at LB for any sustained period of time, say if Baines got a bad injury. I can't remember him play there for us before so it would be a bit of a gamble.

We could do with something like a Jacobsen deal, but a left footed one, as Garbutt and Bidwell are some way off yet and still only potential. Like I said, Beckford will give us pace in attach, and Saha is far from a slouch.

I just don't think we will slam 8m on Donovan, as much as Id love to be proved wrong.

Neville would be good LB cover and would do a job when needed. Also I wouldnt want us spending money on a player who would end up like Jacobsen. He was only here a year and was injured for most of it. Id rather have Neville as second choice LB instead of spending much needed funds on someone who MAY not even play a single game over 2 years. Donovan is much more needed than a LB.

When have you seen Neville play at left back for Everton mate?

I'd much rather see Donovan than left back cover but as pointed out, we won't likely have 8m to spend unless Pienaar goes and we have plenty of cover for the sides of midfield.

Would love it but just can't see it, we don't have money and there are other areas in the team that would be a priority over this.

The only way I could see it happening is if Pienaar left.

Yeah that's what I fear, and imo it's not worth it selling Pienaar to raise Landon's funds, unless the board are convinced that Pienaar is gonna go either way :(

In fairness he was [Poor language removed] there. Remember Rumanina was it? I like Neville but wouldn't wanna see him at LB :(

I havent. He played LB for England and Man Utd which to me makes me think he would be good enough to be COVER for an England international. If we could get a LB on a free transfer on low wages that wouldnt mind being back up then I would like us to but I wouldnt say we need it as much as Donovans pace on the wing.

Right, so you haven't seen Neville play left back for Everton then? Seriously, if you read what I'm saying you'll see I'd prefer Donovan too but that right wing isn't weak enough to splash 8m. Therefore, any meagre resources should secure something as if Baines gets an injury were f*cked. Neither Neville or Hibbert are good enough to deputise for any length of time.

IF we had 8m, cool get Donovan, but unless Pienaar goes I doubt we will or the urgency to cover that position.
