Okay I am not one for rumours about possible takeovers but I thought I would share this text I Just had from a friend of friend.
Philip Green the owner of Top Shop and Marks and Spencers is the real owner of Everton Fc. Bill Kenwright is just a front. Green has been in touch with a Chinese Industrialist for 9 months to sell the club and it is nearly concluded. It has come from the text senders friend Darren who is Everton's press officer. A new stadium in preparation, richer than Chelsea and as rich as the City owners. My work colleague used to know the press officer as he used to work with him elsewhere and I have asked him to get in touch if he can later on tonight. I'm not sure what to believe but had to post it.
You lost me there.
It is 100% illegal for Premier League clubs to have a secret owner. All major shareholders must be disclosed to the Premier League and they are made public. I highly doubt that the club has managed to keep this secret from the Premier League, even though ALL the fans apparently know about it.
No its not.
See - Leeds United.
But yes he is right, Phillip Green is the actual owner of Everton FC Holdings.
Leeds aren't Premier League. It's an ongoing scandal that this rule doesn't apply to the Football League.
Leeds had a secret owner back in 2002 when in the Premier League.
But Phillip Green is the owner, hes not the chairman.
Roman Abrivan-something is the owner of Chelsea FC but Bruce Buck is the Chairman.

Well it must have changed since then http://www.premierleague.com/staticFiles/c5/47/0,,12306~149445,00.pdf it's all there, sections C and D.
http://www.transparencyinfootball.co.uk is championing the cause for this rule to be applied to the entire football family so lower league clubs vulnerable to mismanagement have someone to hold to account.
Not that there is nothing in "investment" discussions. But before Kenwright does any INVESTMENT (might not even be outright take overs) - especially someone in China...
they'd need to do a full check on the person being legit, having both the capital and assets to back this up.
ESPECIALLY in China. (immunity from prosecution of Chinese citizens, or extradition too if it all went belly up).
We're not the RedShite, and don't get taken for mugs.
Aside from by 20 year olds who scored one good goal in the FA Cup.
