If he can't find agreement with Allardyce then no manager is going to work well in tandem with him. His whole role seems a mess.

As in, when Allardyce first arrived, Walsh may have had a list of targets drawn up, but those weren't actually the targets that he wanted.

i.e. Allardyce walked in, Walsh said 'here's three players we could look at' and Allardyce had a look, liked one but not the other two... etc.

It wasn't the plan to have a new manager in. The manager and DoF should work together and I think that's the case on Tosun.

I blame Phil in finance for missing his quarterly sales figures for 2017 and therefore not being sufficiently motivated to update his spreadsheet of targets

I blame the entire club for not identifying a striker when Romelu said he wanted to leave nearly a year ago.

But yeh, go and blame one person. Good logic that Blues

Well if the tea is crap, I would blame the tea lady. If the kit is dirty, I would blame the kit man.

If the transfer activity was crap I wouldnt blame them. Might look else where.

Bad Blue me

Roy. Do you think that every single transfer is down to one single person? Think about it. I know you arent soft Roy

We all have our opinions. You may have confidence in the club hierarchy, I don’t.

IMHO we should have had a striker & LB done & dusted, unveiled on New Year’s Day.

I don't have confidence particularly, and I agree it would have been nice, but it was never likely. Because Everton.

Sam has been here 5 weeks. His remit isn't 'just' transfers and despite it being easy to say 'we need this' as fans, he had to be given the chance to fully assess the squad.

He may have felt he could have got more out of certain players than he has done. I know we've definitely enquired (I was led to believe we'd actually bid, though certain comments from certain people in the last few days have cast doubt over that) about a high profile defender and have had positive feedback on that. That happened in the middle of December. But we didn't move into talks or hadn't as of Christmas due in part to Sam still wanting to be sure which areas to prioritise. It seems that we have prioritised a striker and hopefully it'll be done this week. I'm guessing the plan was to have it announced by now but if we're still negotiating, we're still negotiating. The first bid supposedly went in a week ago...

@orly index me pls

It’s Walsh’s job to identify transfer targets and get players through the door for the management to work with.

That’s why Moshiri brought a DoF in and spent a small fortune constructing Walsh’s scouting network.

So yeah, I think Walsh does carry a huge amount of blame for the state of the current squad and should be made accountable if he fails to provide a CF and LB in this window.

No, of course not. But the fella apparently heading the whole thing up does carry some culpability. And praise.

And yeah, not having the additions needed sorted soon is down to more than one man.
