He knows very well that he is not doing enough to get the job beyond the summer, he even saying it when talking to the media (about lack of attacking football), but he is talking about changing that as the next step, fine by me, he brought back stability and organized the defense, he now has to improve the football without losing the defensive strength, if he does that and we start seeing attacking football while not conceding too many goals, it means we will win lot of games till the end of the season which means we will finish 7th+. If he does that, he deserves the additional year he has on his contract.
He needs the personnel to do that. A centre forward. A fully fit seamus Coleman and a new attacking left back (you only have to look at Alonso for Chelsea today, the difference he would make to our team. Maybe he could entice N’Zonzi here, he would bring much needed stability and physical presence to the team.

It’s nice to see the team end the games with smiles on their faces. During our lowest ebb, I was really worried for our team spirit. We looked crushed. At the end of the Swansea game I saw Tom Davies say something to DCL and they both burst out into fits of laughter. I never thought we’d see that again this season. It might be insignificant, but it genuinely delights me.

First real mistake he has made in picking Sandro instead of Niasse there is just no reason for it.

Apparently Sandro impressed massively in training. Just the wrong game to bring him into, Niasse would have done bugger all too - just like the Liverpool game, neither can make something from nothing.

Think he is getting the best out of the players available. the deficiencies in the squad are there for all to see and have been there since the season started .the January window will I hope tell us a lot about going forward this season .

Agreed. Wasn't a game for the forwards today. The team was set up not to concede and that's it

Allardyce said something to that effect ( without naming Sandro ) in his post-match interview. He was talking about converting what the coaching staff were seeing on the training ground into match day scenarios. It's in here somewhere ...

Exactly. It's easier when you don' have Rudiger kicking you 2 feet in the air every time the ball is in your vicinity. He needs space, hopefully he will adapt to the physicality and speed of the league because he has something about him (judging by his Malaga days of course)

We have the best defence in the league on current form.

Under Koeman or Martinez we would have had more possession but ironically would have lost the game because we'd get caught out at the back while trying to come forward.

Allardyce is a very wiley old campaigner who knows the PL inside out and knows how to get the most out of any squad he's given to work with. Nobody else could have done as good a job as him in the time he's been with us.
