Everton director of football Steve Walsh is facing the sack, according to the Times.
The Times report that Everton “are reviewing the position” of £1million-a-year Walsh, with senior figures questioning whether he is doing enough to justify a salary that is “one of the highest in the Premier League for such a position”.
It is said that Walsh is barely involved in the club’s search for a new manager after his initial recommendation of Sam Allardyce failed to materialise, and there are also question marks over the £150million invested in new players during the summer.

Question marks - really ? What possible criticisms could there be of our summer transfer spending ?

If it's true that Walsh's only involvement in the manager saga has been to recommend Sam Allardyce then words fail me. I thought we'd seen the last of dodgy dealings with the signing of Niasse, but Walsh is a prime example of why all dealmakers and agents should be banned from football.

I know this may be in the wrong place, not really sure where to put it without a new thread, or trying to find koemans page but what happened to our fitness, when Koeman came in he slated our fitness, got them fit and now they have regressed and I'm wondering why?

Not enough time because of the EL would probably be his excuse, but I agree we don't look fit enough or well drilled.

Walsh and Koeman clearly had no strategy for how these players would all fit together.

They have left a chronically unbalanced squad, and criminally left it without a decent striker.
Massively misjudged the fact that Williams and Jags are over the hill.

Walsh would talk about ‘getting the right characters in’. Well Schneiderlain is an utter coward, Keane is a bag of nerves, Sandro doesn’t have the confidence to trap a bag of cement.

In 18 months we still had no apparent style of play.

It’s a lengthy charge sheet against Walsh and can only result in the boot IMO.

Spot on, and as far as I know about a DoF they’re supposed to be the one with the overall long-term strategy, so that if the manager is replaced it doesn’t destroy the clubs style of play etc. There was no method to the madness of the summer, it’s set us back big time, and I’ll be delighted if Walsh is sacked.

Some ITK on tw@tter saying Walsh and Elstone to go

I’ll take that double as my Christmas present please Farhad. Gut the lot of them, show me ruthlessness.

Out of the two, Elstone is the one we really need shut off - if Walsh goes at the same time it is just an added bonus.

Get Elstone out and a Moshiri CEO in and overnight Kenwrigths influence at this club is massively decreased

The major shareholder ideally would take a place on the board otherwise his influence can in effect be limited by the current chair and BoD.

With the current six board members, in my opinion only, it's probable that Harris and Ryazantsev will support the opinions/ideas of Moshiri; Elstone and DB-B will likely support Kenwright while Woods might blow either way although leaning towards Kenwright.

Even in the event of one of RE,DB-B or Woods siding with Harrris and Ryazantsev, that's a 3-3 split and the Chair has the casting vote.

Result... is probably more of the same decision making we've had for 20 years with the major shareholder seemingly on the outside, but 'funding' if requested/needed to protect his own investment.

Far, far, far from a good position.

Which is why it's essential that Elstone goes and goes soon mate, replaced by a pro Moshiri CEO, effectively neuters Kenwright at the club we can hope

I think Woods would always side in any dispute 100% behind Blue Bill mate just for clarity

Is how I thought up to a while ago... now, I'm not so sure.
Something tells me that JW whilst wanting to support his mate will ultimately do what's best for JW... and not alienating the guy who's in line to buy his shares and hand him a considerable profit might be the key.
