Why is this taking so long....did they sack koeman without having a proper replacement lined up ? Was there no plan b apart from praying that Unsworth would win a few games? Pathetic and amateur behaviour.

Sure, a new manager might have a short-term impact on performance but it’s difficult to imagine him finding a decent team from what he has to work with at the present time.

No and that's not what I said.

We set up to defend a clean sheet and were doing so. Then he gambled with the subs, the shape changed and we all know what happened. Had we kept the original, unimaginitive, shape there's a case to be said that the game finishes 0-0. What I was saying is that is relatively easy to park the bus in football, what isn't easy is scoring goals and getting results while doing it.

As we can't outscore the opposition at the minute I'd suggest we're best off defending a point and getting some semblance of team spirit and confidence back. It's not what anybody wants to see but until Jan there isn't much in the way of options.

Interesting. You start by saying that you would not want Fireman Sam anywhere near the club, and then list several good reasons why we need him.

I don't want him because he is a control freak who thinks about not getting beat first before anything positive and has very little interest in whether his teams play decent football or not. Like a better version of Moyes.

Totally agree,and even though a point last night wouldn't have realistically given us a chance of qualifying it would have done the team a world of good going forwards to Sundays game.

Not arsed about whether he would or wouldn’t. Everything has stacked up so far. Unsworth was appointed two days later and given no end date. It’s open season in the media on efc manager speculation. There’s not a single rumour of a manager with foresight coming in. Just firemen. Elstone said the long term plan was Silva at the end of the season. Now just waiting for the next panic button to be pressed on Unsworth and someone like Allardyce brought in. Complete shambles!

surely that is precisely why we need him? not getting beat appeals quite a lot in our current predicament.

All those moaning about big Sams style, do you not remember his Bolton days? consistently over-achieving (a la Moyes) with a limited squad, and playing some nice football with Okocha in the team.
 
Have a go if you want, but I'd pay Allardyce double what he wants to ensure that we get him.

There's absolutely nothing wrong with playing a pragmatic style of football, Martinez illustratated that 'beautiful' football isn't everything. He knows how to set up a team, and knows how to get the best out of the players given to him.

He's by no means a long-term solution, but when you're in the position we find ourselves in - we simply can't afford blue sky thinking.

Iam seriously dreading Sunday.

Watford can come to us and sit for 70 mins, while we huff and puff, trying to string 3 forward passes together without giving the ball away ( Rooney).

Then when we eventually get a corner, they break and score.
Our heads go down ( because the whole team know we cant score to equalise) and Watford win 3 - 0.

I really hope i'm wrong.

I agree with this, we can't score so we can at least protect our clean sheet and not take risks, we might knick a set piece or get a lucky goal.
That's why I want Big Sam in, our team currently isn't good enough for any other way, we need to stop loosing games
