The Budget

Well don't take the Call for Arms so seriously mate, I just don't buy the poor Liverpool segregation with the rest of the country - like its a personal attack.

Could it be linked to crime? how about poverty? I admit there is a different culture in Merseyside and I'm hearing that it's seen by some as lazy - I don't know because I haven't really studied it, but that was something I heard today.

While were on stereotypes, my Scottish missus is dead tight with money and has a beard.

Hang on, she is like that actually so forgot where I was going with this.

Azul 0 - 1 Ghost.

Once again, hyperbole. I stated that an already apathetic Merseyside population will not be too pleased by seeing the Tories, who had already ruined the city in the 80s, come in on their first budget and on their first budget hit Liverpool the worst.

And you think they will be feeling suitably nationalistic because of it?

Anyway, it's no good with you, you fail to grasp it being brought up in your little Welsh bubble.
We all know the crime rate in Liverpool is thru the roof as it is. Things will get worse. Burglaries will go up, domestic violence, street crime and muggings will hit an all time high. Thats my grump. And its the ordinary folk that will suffer. The bad people of this city will get badder. I lived throught the 80's in this city with 4 kids and times were bad then. The future doesnt look good from here.

Because the Tories are c*nts, that's why.

Well that's not really an answer is it? They haven't said right you lot in Liverpool your ****ed, going to take all your money, and you lot over there in Grimsby, your ok, you can keep your money.

So come on? Why is Liverpool going to suffer the most?

So maybe that's the issue? Tough on crime. Stop robbing, battering, dealing drugs and we'll all be sound.

Come on Spinmasters Dizzy cousin, why is Liverpool hit the most?

Becuase they're hitting the Public sector which are big employers around here, they're hitting benefits which a lot of people around here are on, they're hitting the unis (where I and plenty of others work) and their main carrots (income tax etc) only applies for those with more money that the average scouser.

Ok, so here's my next question.

Is there no jobs in Liverpool and that is why there is loads on benefits? Seems to me that loads of jobs have been created in the commercial sector in the past few years.

we have a lot higher national average of people claiming benefit and now its on the consumer index instead or retail it will effect them. we also have a lot of people in public sector industries who have pay freezes, again this is not good.

the VAT will also hit poorer people as a proportion to the amount they spend.

it's one set of policies that will hit merseyside harder than other areas of the country. i fear that without the liberals the tories would have gone for us lock stock with this budget and anyone who lived through the doctrine of thatcherism will fear this is just the start.

the liverpool chamber of commerce thinks the private sector is now strong enough to see it out but 1 in 3 have jobs in public sector.

i think we have twice the national average of unemployment.

Mate, why don't you just come out with it and call all scousers scroungers, that's what you're angling at.

And yet, saying anything against England causes outrage. You're proving our point about English types.

I haven't said that. I don't know if its true or not - i'm just saying that today I am hearing from people that there are many shirkers in Liverpool, who choose not to work and take the benefits.

If that is wrong then say so, I'm not having a pop at anyone, and don't put me out to dry like that.

To be fair to the tories, they've probably saved some jobs at the port by scrapping the backdated rates but by and large we have big unenployment around here just cos its not easy to get a job. I spent a year looking, straight after I left school, and I was applying to two or three every day (I ended up doing toilet cleaning and bar work to keep me going). If the Uni has to let me go, I won't relish going back on the job hunt, I'll tell you that for nothing.

Hitting benfits hits those I honestly think are just too unlucky to find regular work and when you combine it with hitting those employed in the public sector and the unis, the consequences are grim.
