etc etc

I'm not even going to bother linking the Everton Twitterati currently passing it off as his own work again. Just admit you get your info and material from on here mate. Come on.

They didn't start attracting those players straight away though. They went through Ed De Gooy before landing Petr Cech, Celestine Babayaro before getting Ashley Cole, Benjani before Aguero etc etc. There was also less money about in football then and less teams in their way.

Its got nothing to do with the board, it's got more to do with there being better more glamorous options elsewhere.
A name no one's heard in a long time. Top marks feller.

I think the idea was for Rooney, Sandro and even the likes of Klaassen to get 10-15 goals to fill the gap.

I actually don't think we need an out and out goalscorer (would be nice to get one of course..) but we do need another option up front who offers something different. DCL may offer that one day and will do a job at times this season but we cant really on him every game. I don't think we need a "big" name or a statement signing, just someone who can hold up the ball and get on the end of some crosses.
There are a couple of issues with that strategy though.

Firstly, it's hugely ambitious. Only 12 players got 15 or more goals in the league last year, expecting 3 of our players to achieve that is a massive ask.Expecting a midfielder to come over to the premier league and score as many as he did in Holland is asking a huge amount of the lad. Sandro is 21, only has 1 season of regular football behind him and really looks quite raw to me - I think 10 goals would be a really good return for him this year. Even Rooney has only got more than 12 once in the last 5 years.

Secondly, even if they did all get 10-15, it would only match the contribution of the front players from last year. We need more goals, not just to replace Lukaku's. A reliable 15+ goal striker is a must in my opinion. Fingers crossed we'll get one.

When ia Funes fit again? He did a good job playing as a a Striker against 10 man Chelsea at stamford bridge back when Bobby was manager. Could be an option? Would actually make the Sigurdsson signing worthwhile

April the earliest?

You explain this better than I. Agreed 100%.
