Exactly.....It does mean that to an extent a manager is reliant on support from the board...they have the final say on spending money and aklso on whether a manager stays in his job. I think Everton have money available, but Mosh while being ambitious, is also shrewd,and when push comes to shove its his financial instinct that will count. Funnily enough, the same could be said of West Ham...I've met Gold and Sullivan(some years ago) and they are big football fans,primarily, but also very shrewd business people. They got a good deal at West Ham and need relative success on the pitch to justify the shiny new stadium they have acquired, but like Mosh,they won't spend ALL their money chasing the dream.

If Cuco had played we'd have had major problems. Holgate has been brilliant but for one or two mistakes...valuable lessons learned.

Kenny should be in the side getting games now...were not hitting top 4 so why not blood the kids and get them tip top for a top 4 push next season when we have a couple more stars added.

Koeman fan here mate but I stilll dont agree with his tactics in last two league games and also surprised by some of his team selections.

Hopefully he'll learn from those 2 games and if we bring in the 2 players he wants I think we'll have a squad capable of challenging the top 6, once the new lads have settled and we get some of our injured players back.

You can't seriously be satisfied with our last 3 halves if premier football mate?

This in a nutshell. I don't think anyone with sense is expecting us to walk into Stamford Bridge and boss Chelsea with uber attacking footy, we'd just like to see us have a go and compete with hopefully a few shots on target. That's two premier league matches in a row where the tactics have been obvious from the start and we've attempted to play for a point by parking the bus. Without any sort of pace in the team we're really limited in our ability to threaten because we have no fast counter to catch teams out, it leaves us to relying on a bit of luck from set pieces which is all very reminiscent of Moyes.

The thing that's getting to me beyond the negativity of how we're setting up is that I still can't for the life of my see the formation of a way forward tactically.

What are all of these signings going towards in an ideal starting 11 in Ronny's mind because I've not a clue how he would be planning to set up with everybody fit. Does he stick with 3-5-2 or go back to 4-2-3-1/4-3-3? I still can't see the big picture with his chosen signings and that is a bit worrying.

We were due a loss and if it was going to come to anyone then last year's champions is the team to do it to but we need to show more creativity and intelligence moving forward than we have done so far this season. I think Klaassen is a good player, but I think we could have gone for someone more comfortable running on the ball and that would have offered more than he does though there is lots of time for it all to click for him eventually.

As I've said before,the injury to Bolassie was a massive blow to Koeman. He was the pacy 'out ball' regardless of what many on here think of his skill level, he was and hopefully still will be, very quick. There is nothing wrong with Koemans methods, provided we have pace to burn up front. And not just DCL....two pacy front men and we are a very successful team. Oh for an Andy Johnson in his prime...he would pick up from the midfield and chase the channels all day long!. My God...how he would benefit from Rooney and Siggy!!

Love this place after a defeat.

Results wise, 4 points and through the European group stages is a decent start considering opposition we've faced so far.

Can't comment on yesterday's performance as I didn't watch the match (annual august bank holiday family gathering ffs) but it is still early days in the season considering the squad turnaround which (fingers crossed) isn't over yet.

International break has come at a good time for us, wanting a big performance against Spurs in a couple of weeks

Wouldn't argue with that assessment Zat, although Cuco has been better than I had envisaged. He does have an excellent early cross on him, and if we do bring in a target man I wouldn't be against starting him against teams that are likely to park the bus, whether that be in a 4 or a 5. At the moment, he's probably also the most likely cover for Baines at LB too.

As regards Kenny, it does appear that Koeman considers him 3rd choice, (4th once Seamus returns). I do think it's a season wasted if he plays with the U23s this season and I would prefer him to go out on loan in that case. It would be a shame if that happened but it's better than the alternative.

There's not even any gimmies in the EL draw that you think Koeman might throw him in for.

Home form comes first though and we followed our worst ever home form with one of our best so first things first

So let me get this right, he wants to play in a specific way and that takes time to implement and it started to click in at home against Arsenal which was in December 2016 but still didn't click in away from home several months later by May 2017. Now we've got to wait for it to click in again at home and then at some point it will click in away from home but may, based on last season, still not have kicked in again by the end of the season in May 2018.

Mate this is one of those times I wish I was wrong.

Having said that I wish I wasn't right, but every game is an opportunity to start getting it right so I hope he takes the international break to get more players in and figure out our best team for each situation.

Bring in quality striker and CB (and dare I say keep hold of Barkley) and I do feel we have a really good squad available with lots of depth and options once everyone is fit. It's then a case of picking the right players, formation and tactics to suit each match, and I think that's where Ronnie is falling down at the moment. @Eggs said a while ago that managers very often come across formations by mistake, and it's absolutely true. Just wish it would happen sooner rather than later.

Same thing with me in terms of the signings. I just don't understand how it's going to work without shoehorning players all out of position everywhere.

I know its no nonsense that we've been waiting for for ages, but he can't reasonably keep hanging players out to dry with minimal pressing from the reporters asking him the questions. Kev probably was being a massive bell but if Koeman keeps using his brute force for every situation are we going to have a problem with recruitment / the dressing room?

I agree. It's one thing to have a squad, it's another to know how to use it. He's not dumb. I just think he's a little stubborn in some of his thinking. There's no question he's made us a better team though, for all my moaning. I just think he's missing some obvious things but ok that's football.
