25/38 is not dependable. Not going to get any better now he is older. How are we meant to challenge the teams above us if we keep signing their cast offs?
Just like we shouldn't have signed Schneidelin? The whole point is we should sign players who improve us. Jose discards good players all the time...like Lukaku, like Mata, etc.

......with just 4 days and 16 hours left in this window, here's what's being reported this Sunday morning;

- The Daily Mirror says Everton will rival Chelsea for the signature of £40m rated Jamie Vardy. Both clubs can offer the player more than the £100k per week deal he signed last year.

- The Daily Mail report Everton have put an £8m valuation on Oumar Niasse who could be a target for Brighton, especially after they pulled out of a move for Raphael Dwamena because of a failed medical.

- Plenty of outlets suggest Chelsea will hold talks with Everton today regarding a £30m move for midfielder Ross Barkley.

- Southampton have apparently transfer listed midfielder, Jordie Clasie. The Daily Mirror linked the player with Everton some months ago.

- According to the Daily Mail, Everton have been offered the chance to sign Benfica striker Raul Jimenez.

Not sure, you would assume he would have jumped on a plane when he got the news, but who knows, his dar seems ok, so he MIGHT make himself available and then fly home during the International break.

Reported as he was given permission by the club to go home already mate, so God knows what we're lining up with today centrally, have a weird Rooney, Davies and siggy midfield could be played ;/

Vardy would massively improve our away results. Especially against the bigger teams.

Doesn't solve the problem of a player who is gonna hold the ball up to get the best out of the supporting attacking players though.

If we have struck out on getting a quality player if that type in, then rather than try bring in a jobber to attempt to do it, we'd be better going for a different type like vardy.

Anyway, as we all know the window closes Thursday 31st August at 11pm.

Interestingly there are a number of International games being played that night, which would make moves for "certain" players difficult, selected games.

France 19:45 Netherlands
Portugal 19:45 Faroe Islands
Switzerland 19:45 Andorra
Belgium 19:45 Gibraltar
Cyprus 19:45 Bosnia-Herzegovina
I don't think we'll do any deadline signing. Should be sorted before then.

..lots of outlets picking up on the Vardy story. Not a conventional target man but he goes to war with opposition CBs so can be an 'out ball'. As you say, he certainly exploits any space behind the back four and would've been ideal against City last Monday.
