Romelu Lukaku

Too many people getting carried away. WHU were suicidal in how they left huge spaces for Rom to run into. If you let him play he will hurt you with goals. The 1st finish for me was a bit of a fluke as it could have hit the post and bounced out, but to his credit the second was well taken.

Overall I don't think he offered much besides the goals, Teams should sit back to deny him the space and get men around him. He seemed to make Lovren look like a world class player everytime we played them, I should hope Ron has at least learnt Lukaku's stengths and weaknesses.

He does a lot for that team. He scares the opponent's defence and thus opens up the field for the other attacking midfielders. WOuld have done it here as well but for our lack of closing attacking midfielders.

I've had to laugh at the phony outrage of some Blues over Lukaku's badge pointing antics. Are these the same ones who welcomed Rooney back despite him kissing the United badge directly at us several times in the past?

It was a touch cringeworthy from Rom though.

I wonder if he'll celebrate if he scores against us next month?

I see the echo reported that Everton fans weren't happy that Lukaku pointed to the badge when scoring at the weekend...

Then used a Twitter post from a Chelsea fan at the bottom of the article. :)

Good post. He allows Michael Tar Ryan and Rashford to exploit the spaces.

Lukaku isn't an immense player but he is an extremely reliable goal scorer and that's all Mourinho and Man Utd fans will care about.

This makes interesting reading, and echoes my comment, made out loud to the radio about Lukaku never having a problem scoring against the weaker teams (especially West Ham!) and let's wait and see what happens when he once again comes up against the (supposed) top 6

The writer of the article makes the same (biased?) mistake as so many on here. Saying that his goals didn't matter and didn't result in points. As if a 2-0 or a 3-0 doesn't get points; thos goals can seal a match.
It's evident when the writer says Lukaku scored a brace in the 4-0 victory. He implies that those goals didn't matter (or get points) because it was a 4-0 victory. So minus Kukaku's goals it's still 2-0.
He conveniently omits the fact that Lukaku's goals were the first two and hence the most important. It was a game that could still go both ways until Lukaku scored on his first attempt.

He's a great finisher...no one can dispute that.
I have no doubt he'll thrive at United.

But I do not lose sleep over that reality: I think, if Everton gels, then we can beat United.
