The most plausible and believable thing holding this up is agent fees and the sell on fee to Spurs.

Swansea City coach Paul Clement is keen for Gylfi Sigurdsson's future to be resolved as quickly as possible after talks over a move to Everton stalled, sources close to the Welsh club have told ESPN FC.

Everton have seen two bids for the Iceland international midfielder rejected, with Swansea holding out for a fee of around £50 million.

Everton are prepared to pay £40m plus add-ons but have so far been unable to agree the structure of those payments.

Sigurdsson has not figured in much of Swansea's preseason programme after being left out of their tour of the United States amid speculation over his future.

He is interested in a move to Everton, and both clubs remain in talks to try and find a solution.

Clement's transfer plans have been put on hold as the club wait on the Sigurdsson situation, with Swansea ready to give the coach funds from a sale to strengthen his squad.

He has been planning for life without Sigurdsson and does not want the saga to drag on to the end of the window as it would impact his own plans.

...if that was 10.30 this morning I would hope things have moved on a bit.

Yes, that sounds reasonable but with football inflation running at about 100% you're best to just pay what they're asking, safe in the knowledge that you can sell next season for a profit.
I don't know what Watford have asked for him. Have you heard whisper of 35 mio. Yes, I guess that's ball park in today's market. I guess it's up to the club and Troy Deeney's agent now...

We do have Lennon as a bargaining tool (I don't mean that Aaron is a tool...he certainly isn't...but Watford want him)
