Very hard to say for sure, but signs are that Rooney could turn into a huge problem with trying to get a system that works fluidly, LVG, Mourinho and in the England squad all failed to adjust to find his best position, so far no idea but looks like Koeman hasn't a clue about where he is best playing either, maybe because he has declined a large amount, IF he doesn't manage to find the fountain of youth soon, could be a massive problem with us this season.

Deffo a head scratcher for Koeman. Could see Rooney working playing behind a front 2, but if we get Sigurdsson where does he play, and it still doesn't solve the Klassen problem, too many similar players to accommodate.

We are probably gonna end up spending effectively 85m on 3 big signing bonuses, and upwards of 350-400k+ per week on those three players who are all in theory first 11 players and who all kinda play best in the same position and play all of who'd benefit from NOT being played with each other and more pacey/hold-up types around them instead.

If they where arriving without the fees/wages and reputations then yeah could see it working, as one or two would be more squad options.

But Rooney isn't gonna sit on the bench, neither is Sigurdsson with that type of fee, and neither is Klassen -else we are screwing our chances of signing from abroad, if we suddenly bench a 25m signing of the Ajax captain.

Just looks to me like we had a few lists with several names on them, and on one of them we signed our 3rd choice, then the second became available so we signed him, then the first did so we signed him as well.

After watching all of the pre-season matches, I'd say 7th is about right on the table. The squad need time to gel and it's clear that they're not all on the same page.

As others have said, I'm impressed by Sandro, Lookman and Kenny, but I only see RK starting one of them. We do have a lot of matches this season so there will be plenty of game time to rotate Klaassen and Rooney as I believe they operate in the same position. Sigi will add depth, but will force a re-think in tactics. I don't see all 3 of them on the pitch at the same time. I still believe we need a striker and a CB.

So...does Cuco get in on the left instead of Baines?. Neither is a great defender, but who has the edge going forward? Discuss sensibly and impartially.

Rooney is done. I'm staggered by those who think he's somehow going to defy biology and play like he did 8 years ago because he's wearing a blue shirt. It cannot happen, he was a waste of money and unless RK is ruthless (and I know, he probably will be) he'll be taking a more effective player's place.

I said all of this the day we announced Rooney's return and I received dog's abuse from all of you.

I actually watched football last few years and knew it was a terrible idea.

We are going to struggle this season unless we sign some quality players by Sep 1st.

Lookman will be class. Sandro looks a prospect.

Only positives I can take from pre season.

Manager is out of his depth too.

Are you saying no one else has watch football apart from yourself or that's your opinion?
