Listening to him in the media - he comes across as banal and a bit thick.

I've yet to hear one incisive comment. The organisations that hire him for comment are going to realise that shortly and he'll be back here scraping around looking for an Echo weekly column.

That's true of most pundits and commentators in football. Townsend, Owen, (Phil) Neville, Redknapp, all are terrible pundits, but somehow keep getting invited back. Not a single insightful comment in their careers.

Me either. Can only assume it's some kind of clique in joke. Lad was a good player, only his physicality stopped him from getting to the very top.
