This thread is schizophrenia inducing: I am one minute elated and excited and then I read stuff (eg we're after Leeds' crap striker) that just makes me despairingly despondent.
Are any others affected like this? And how do you cope with it?
I eat healthily and get out in the sun (vitamin d), so I think biochemically I am Ok...it's the stress of the window that I am just not dealing with very well

The manager is pursuing Ajax captain Davy Klaassen, Swansea playmaker Gylfi Sigurdsson and Burnley centre-back Michael Keane to ensure he has a strong enough squad for a demanding season ahead.

Koeman, who is also looking to secure Malaga striker Sandro Ramirez for £5.2m, will push ahead for those signings even if Ross Barkley performs a U-turn and agrees a new contract.

Barkley looks increasingly likely to leave Goodison Park this summer, having so far refused to extend a contract that expires at the end of next season.

Koeman has made clear that he will not allow the England midfielder to run down his current deal and leave on a free transfer, which he would be able to do next summer as he will have passed his 24th birthday.

With Romelu Lukaku also likely to leave for Chelsea in a deal worth about £70million, Everton do have the money to add top-class talent to a squad that finished seventh in the Premier League last month.

Koeman wants strength in depth as he prepares for a long season that will start with a Europa League third qualifying round tie late next month.

The arrival of Pickford is set to be confirmed once he has returned from Poland, where he is on duty with England at the Under-21 European Championship, which starts this Friday and runs until June 30.

Koeman sees the keeper, 23, as his long-term first choice, having alternated between Maarten Stekelenburg and Joel Robles over the last season.
