Dolberg would be very, very difficult to get I think. He's only young and will probably want to stay at Ajax for another year. On the other hand, he really is bloody good. Getting Klaassen may make Everton a more attractive prospect.

I just believe that come the march / april part of the season when we need to be grinding out results, having that unit will be the best thing for us now. By having players who can grow over time will be even better, imagine a hardworking creative midfield player who after 2 years can also thread the eye of a needle on the pitch? Or a winger who starts as a fullback cover and within a couple years can beat 3 players and put it in the top corner when they feel like it?

I just don't want us to have an exciting summer and that is it, i want to grow over years, get better and to compete

And among those 11, we need leaders, winners, fist-shakers, and shouters. We've too many who just shrug their shoulders at the moment, too many who accept mistakes. And what we mustn't do is go down the Middlesbrough route when Robson was in charge, of paying way too much for and to players who weren't really bothered about the team.

Exactly Geoff. This is what i mean about the players growing. We don't go and buy a 27 year old flair player who isn't arsed about the club. We bring a younger one in with potential, he grafts and improves so the player at 27 we then get is someone who is part of the club rather than just an expensive signing.

From my way of thinking it would take longer to get somewhere without 'overachieving' but when the teams above us can go out and sign the best players in the world without a seconds thought, it would be unrealistic to expect us to challenge them without some real groundwork beforehand, like spurs have done over the past 3-4 years pretty much.

Yeah, i think Dolberg will be a little out of our reach, its similar to why Mbappe wont leave monaco this summer.

They have both only came into the team this year, any sort of move for either (Mbappe's case a United, Madrid etc) (dolberg's us, liverpool etc) would probably limit there game time and be a bit more unforgiving should they have that "dip" in form players of there age can tend to have.

I wouldn't even be arsed haggling for Dolberg - they want to keep him so he develops and his fee goes up next summer by reports, then just turn around and go substantially higher than his value is atm, they want to hold onto him hoping his value goes from 20 to 30-35m - simply offer them that value this summer and test how resolved they truly are in keeping hold of him.
