How about having a "Former Everton Managers" thread?

The ones in the World Football forum: 'Martinez Belgian boss' and 'Moyes to Sunderland' tend to veer wildly away from those core subjects. They also pull in managers stretching back to Catterick.

Why not a thread that allows comparison across the eras? I'd imagine it'd need less attention from mods having to rule posts off topic.

But then, if this thread was in the Everton forum, currently it would be discussing Moyes remaining at Sunderland? That's world football isn't it?

Good point.

Thread would need to be specifically about a managers time at Everton. Not sure it would stay on topic though.

*This is probably why you run the forum and I just post rubbish

You leave Everton you're dead to me anyway, so can't have it in the Everton forum.
In a way that's an argument for having it in the World Football forum. We all know they dont ply their trade here anymore for one reason or another and that makes it relative for World Football...which I always take to mean 'football in general' anyway.

Dave et al... @GrandOldTeam @Bungle @kev...

I agree that a "Former Everton Managers" thread in the World Football Forum would be a viable and sensible area to discuss the merits/debits and have some comparison discussions.

El Bob, Moyes, Royle, Walker, Smith, Kendall, Harvey, Lee, Bingham, Catterick and even further back in time should generate lots of discussion material and hopefully, it would be informative, sensible and entertaining.

One (serious) proviso that I would suggest... No comparisons to or mentioning of the current manager... He already has his own thread in the Everton Forum and whilst he is in situ, any discussion on him should remain in that thread.

Cheers,
AndyC ;)

I hate to say this, but I think dave's had a good idea here, it was probably someone else's idea though and he's just recycled it.

To be honest mate, I think discussion of former Everton managers should be in the Everton forum. We wouldn't start a thread about the mid 80's team in World Footie, and I don't see this as being any different.

I just saw that the existing threads on our former managers were unable to contain the breadth of topics people pulled into them and then suggested a solution. I dont need a medal for it or anything, though that would be nice.
