I like the lad but would I rather have Koemans system and upturn in results or one talented kid that doesn't fit into our system? I'd rather have the manager and system that on the face of it seems to be closing the gap between us and the teams above us. For us to hang onto him for the time when he does fit our system or we can accommodate him isn't really fair to him. I'd like us to keep him but much like if Rom goes, I won't loose any sleep over it. I'm not saying we could t find a system that fits him right now but it wouldn't be Koemans system and right now I'd say he is more important to us then Gerry

It's just odd that anything talented now we're losing for whatever reason or struggling to keep hold - Stones, Rom, Ross, Del and they're all heading off to big sides.

Were as we'll be stuck with Bolasie, Lennon, Williams etc

It's because we are still also rans. That is why the task of building is harder because the higher clubs have their pick of the best of the rest. Once you are a part of the higher clubs it becomes so much easier to keep players and buy players. That is the hard nut we have to crack. Progression for the also rans is always difficult because the higher clubs just take what they want and it is very difficult for the player to say no.

I think you are 100% correct. Our success has brought with it scrutiny, the top clubs are looking at us and saying these players can win games for a middle order side, they can help us.
Koeman and the board have a big job this summer persuading our best players that there is a successful future at Everton. We need to convince them they are better off playing a full role in our success than a bit part in another club's success.
We need to clear out any dead wood and bring in players who are going to improve our team.
I am a great believer in a football club being a living thing, it cannot stand still, it is moving forward or backward. At the moment we are going forward, it only takes a bit of complacency to halt the forward motion and start us going into reverse.

you reckon? i guess any contract clause can be worked around if both parties agree. would depend on the % of the sell on fee we agreed to.

hopefully see him here next season

Don't think we will myself mate, manager obviously doesn't rate him, and don't think Koeman looks the type to go back on a firm decision on a player.

Genuinely think Del just isn't cut out for this league, will be a success in Italy though where the pace/standard is a lot less.

he will also never produce consistently enough for Barca either - thats a club that deemed Sanchez as not productive enough so just went and bought Suarez...

sorry, i meant here as im a season ticket holder at Barça. if he is leaving id prefer he came back.

id not considered that Barça might just pay their way out of the clause that says they cant sell him on immediately.

But that's the case for all clubs, with the exception of Real Madrid and, probably, Barcelona, and even they could lose players to Real until relatively recently. Hazard, De Gea, Alli, Kane, Sanchez, they've all and more been linked to moves, just as the likes of Keane have been linked to us. We need to get higher up the food chain, that's all, and we're doing so. Besides, Barkley hasn't gone anywhere yet, and may very well not do, and I wouldn't be surprised if there's a twist or two left in the Lukaku soap opera. As far as Deulofeu is concerned, Koeman would almost certainly find space for him if he performed consistently enough. That certainly seems to have been the message to all the players, Barkley and Mirallas especially. I'm just glad we've the manager and the money now to enable us to send strong messages to players.

To be fair mate I'm not sure how you can list Del with the other 3 names, he isnt even close to being in the same league as Stones, Ross and Rom.

Firstly Lukaku and Barkley havent gone yet. Obviously it seems Lukaku will be off though.

Secondly, we loaned Deulofeu to Milan. We chose to let him go, he wasn't taken from us. Milan are also a shadow of their former selves. Quite possible they won't be in Europe again next season.

Stones hasn't exactly kicked on though has he mate, Ross hasn't left yet, Rom of course will be a massive loss when he goes. Del though, literally the only place he seems to have shown any sort of long term form is AC.

Top goal scorer usually is at the team that wins the league or top 3 at least not a team finishing 7-5th. It would be great to keep Rom but he probably is above where we are at the minute. Liecster proved last year you don't need a ball playing centre half to succeed. Let's be honest defensively stones is good on his day, no more then that. What sets him apart is his ability in the ball, he isn't exactly Maldini in his actual defending. How many goals over the past 2/3 years has he cost the team he's played for just through individual errors. Of course he will improve or at least he should and il be honest I haven't watched much of city the past few months but he seemed to be going backwards from that season we finished 5th.

Sorry mate I was supposed to add aswell that supposedly Stones going allowed us to offer these big wages to new players because of FFP

This is an untrue statement. Stones is just overrated and can't defend. Everton got a really good profit from selling him. Deulofeu can't cut it in PL and Koeman chooses to let him leave. Barkley and Lukaku are still here although Rom will be a big miss if he goes.

Lennon obviously was not a Koeman signing and will be sold soon. Williams is a ready made, solid centre-defender (a defender who can actually defend) who would help out our defence and the results have proved Koeman and Walsh were right. Bolasie is a different type of player than Mirallas and Lookman. He was doing ok before he got the injury.

Which can also go one of two ways. Either Barca will sell him off cheap or for a lot. So any sell on fee could be very little.

He's stock could drop big time if he's sulking on the bench for Barca.
Begs the question "why buy him back?".

Del's form has been decent since he's been at Milan but nowhere near Barca first team standard. And how much profit could they turn by selling him on after 12 months anyway, bearing in mind they have to pay him a years salary. Plus they need to entice him with a decent contract/package to get him to sign in the first place. Pretty certain the player would have to agree to any transfer and it sounds as though he has his heart set on going to Milan by all accounts.

I'm also pretty certain that the buy back clause has to be enforced within a certain period of the window, probably by the end of July I would imagine. So I wouldn't be surprised if that deadline passes without Barca exercising their option leaving us free to negotiate with Milan.

Wouldn't be too disappointed if he stayed to be honest as I think he would be good for our cup campaigns. Plus the most we'd get for him would be around £15m and I really don't think we could get a replacement as good as him for the same money.

If the rumours are true and Barca do buy him back, along with Cleverly and McGeady and the potential 10 million for Niasse we could have over 30 million coming in. Amazing how once you get rich money just pours in.

I watched the Milan derby yesterday - the teams looked about the level of Stoke or Bournemouth. Del looked pretty good and seems to be well appreciated which can only be good for him.
