Ross Barkley

Sigurdsson is better, Banega from Inter, Jonathan Viera from Las Palmas, I'd even say Lanzini is marginally better. And that's just a few examples.

He's playing well ATM but he's nowhere close to being irreplaceable, our fans overrate him alot. Obviously it'd be better if he stayed because our squad overall is stronger with him in, but I wouldn't be arsed in the slightest if he left - we'd get a good £30-35m too. There's nowhere better for him to go anyway - none of the top 6 clubs want nor need him.

Oh god I didn't even see this first time.

Have a word with yourself lad

I don't want him sold but if he doesn't sign a contract then we have to accept he will have to be sold.

It might just be a case that his agent has refused contract talks for now as he wants to see who we sign, no point in Ross signing a deal on £80k a week if in the summer we go and sign Rooney on £150k+ a week as he would want a similar wage. Same goes for Lukaku, if either are going to stay they won't sign a deal until they see who we bring in first. For that reason I am not going to worry as I have faith in Koeman. We will probably have to wait until August to know what is happening with both.

If RB & RL are being sold in the summer it will be in early June through to mid July. Most clubs are probably in the later stages of formulating their summer plans. Clubs that make signings in August do so having missed out on probably their number one, two and possibly even thrid targets. Neither of those players would just be bolt ins to a squad they would be major players.
The league season has about 5 weeks left to run at that point players are off on international duties or on the beach in effect away from any influence of the management team.

Rooney has at least another season on his £300k a week deal at Man Utd. If he turns up next season at Everton someone is going to have to make up any shortfall in his weekly wage. My guess is that would be part loyalty bonus from Man Utd and part signing on fee from Everton . If he is going to be on say £130 k a week the sum paid to sign Rooney on will be several millions which won't do unnoticed by both RB and RL's agents.

Barkleys contract position is critical. We keep hearing about him being sold if he doesn't sign are the only two options but that is just not the case. He could just as easily decide to stay for another season on the current contract any sums lost would easily be made up by the huge signing on fee he would be able to negotiate.

We all want Ross to stay, but if he doesn't sign then the club really have no option but to sell. I wish it were not so, but I fear this is where we are headed......a big test for the club.......

Constructive response Tom.

They all offer things that Ross doesn't. In an ideal world he stays and we add to the squad. But until contract is signed, he's going.

Kieran Dowell - Wants to be here.
Liam Walsh - Wants to be here and wouldn't have to force him to tackle.
Siggz - Creates and scores more goals in a shoddy team.
Son - Scores more goals and would offer support replacement for Rom.
Isco - Better.
Mahrez - Faster, trickier, backs himself.

Just saying there are a multitude of options out there.

That's an awful lot of assumptions.
Rooney could just a pay off from United and the take 80/100 k a week.
We are his boyhood club and he said we are the only other club in the premiership he would play for.
He will want to stay in England and play fairly regularly to give himself one last chance of a World Cup.
Money is not his main goal.

Banega has been awful this season and is 29. Viera is decent but is a winger anyway.

Sigurdsson has been very good this season, but so has Barkley.
