New Everton Stadium - Hill Dickinson Stadium

I am pretty sceptical too as well mate. A lot of chat will be that Usmanov is funding this so we can't do it in a transparent way. However I'm not entirely sure who owns the Stadium, us, 3rd party or LCC. That is quite important. Within my lifetime LCC have been close to Bankruptcy. If that were to happen (not wholly unrealistic in post brexit Britain) and a liquidator came in we would be in a challenging position if we were paying them back.

Likewise if it's in Unsmanovs company (or Moshiri's name) what happens when, nicely putting it they die. There's no guarantee their heirs will want to give Everton a stadium for nothing.

That would be the key risk in all this for me. We look ok for 40 years. However the question of how we pay off the 300 million capital is important. Coventry did something similar I think, and once they fell out of the league it all went sour quickly.

That being said, it could be that Usmanov/Moshiri have lent us the money, so we own the assets and owe them 300 million quid. While not ideal that would be a very good outcome and I hope it's the one we have. I'd rather be left with the asset in our name and owing money, than having the asset in someone else's name with the promise of being able to buy in 40 years.
Moshiri/Usmanov taking an interest in the SPV to be set up? Possibly institutional investors like pension funds would be takers I'd imagine. I couldn't see LCC creating that as a front for Usmanov).

Whatever the rights and wrongs of the deal being constructed I think we can see already from the released council document that there is plenty of scope for this to be called in. Does it pass the test of getting best use of public money? Will it be subject to protest over congestion? Will it fail on account of design and Historic England raise an objection? Im sure there are more grounds for concern too.

Historic England, against peel, the council and moshiri/usmanov, unless they make the design hideous then yes it will pass Dave.
The LCC will have more money each year than it would have, so yes it will pass, it's also that well structured to avoid any doubts about that money.
Congestion, 40m for road improvements and ultimately money talks mate.

Never gonnacslare you for worrying about the club mate, your a good blue regardless of arguments we've had, but on this the owner is playing a very very clever game to ensure we come out best

Everybody talking about Usmanov or USM funding this stadium has completely missed the point of what was announced with the Council today.

The Council are getting involved to act as a guarantor for a loan to build this stadium.

Why would we ever do that if someone like Usmanov, Moshiri, or USM was going to fund the stadium? There wouldn't be any need for a loan, never mind one that would require us to rope in the Council as a guarantor.
my case in point right here. This deal is too complex for you to understand. Just don't worry.

Do people seriously expect Moshiri to use his own money?! Give your head a wobble if that's the case.

There are two ways of getting wealth and maintaining it - by using other people's time or other people's money.

It isn't like he'd be spending it and never see it again mate, he would recoup it back with a profit on a future sale of the club or a share issue. If he pays out of pocket then there are no interest fees to pay, no lease payments to LCC.

Either way, he was unlikely to do pay out of pocket with the ownership percentages as they are.

Even the super rich don't just drop amounts like 500 mill. It was always going to be financed by loans, whether that's a loan from a bank or some other body it was never going to be a 500 mill gift to the club.

Brilliant news and brilliant deal. All negativity remember this-

Moshiri has been there less than 13 months:

1) Secured investment
2) Landed new stadium site
3) Odd hiccups - but we are able to buy better players
4) Got Koeman, after ridding of Martinez
5) Finch Farm deal
6) Better shirt sponsor deal

Have I missed anything, or should we have been expecting to see stadium plans/blueprints, new train stations, parking lots, boat terminals etc. today?

Me, Im OVER THE BLOODY BLUE MOON!

Goodison looks boss.

Irrelevant. No one i their right mind would use their own money to finance something when they can leverage debt that can easily service.

Yes I believe so, but then 14 mil a year is nothing, saves us forking out 300mil we don't have

It increases annually by RPI.

The deal is cheaper than we can borrow direct but for that we cede ownership & have to secure revenue.

We also cannot get the stadium we really want or expect for less than £500m so final numbers are likely to be nearer £25m pa.

The council will be wanting something out of it too

He'll be dead before we own the stadium and any outstanding debt will be factored in to our value.

Also, who is to say it would be a bad owner that we got next? Because that's the only negative of us being sold again. Isn't it?

If I understand Elstone's comments correctly ...." we have control of the land ..." then it would appear that we won't own the land.

However we are going to pay for a £300mill stadium on land that we don't own.

Surely that can't be right.

I am not being cynical / sceptical - the thought of an iconic new stadium in a superb location is wonderful but I'd be grateful if someone who has read or heard more of this deal could give clarity.
