Romelu Lukaku

I've been one of lukaku's biggest detractors but I'll admit he's made big improvements in his game of late. However I remain sceptical that any of the champions league big boys are convinced by him. I could see Dortmund maybe, if aubameyang leaves but I think that's the best he'll get (not sure if they're even in a champions league spot in the bundesliga). I have a belief though that when news was put out there about him being ready to sign a contract someone high up at Chelsea informed raiola they are serious about taking him in the summer

Look at his multicoloured frill, how he lures his prey with sweet sounds until he... NO LUKAKU NO!!

Can we open a Lukaku replacement thread please?

Realistically how much are we looking at getting for him, about £70m?

The Naisse thread is open mate!!

Didnt see this coming, havent heard the full or real story, but it sound like he is taking it for granted that a CL side want him and are willing to pay what we want, im gutted, least we know now we have to look for a replacement now and not with 10 days of the window left

My go at second guessing what's gone on.
  • Lukaku wants off. Shock.
  • Everton, currently can prevent this.
  • Raiola knows this, and wanted a new deal with a minimum fee release.
  • Both parties then, want/wanted a deal.
  • Everton/Raiola couldn't agree that fee. Raiola wanting less, knowing he has teams who'd pay an amount.
  • Raiola turned to the media - 99.99999% done stuff was solely to add pressure on Everton to accept their terms.
  • Everton won't budge.
  • Lukaku comments and todays media leak the last attempt to secure that contract renewal to avoid derailing EFC season.
I hope Everton stand firm, accept no deal with a low minimum fee. A deal now with a low minimum fee means Lukaku leaves in the summer and Raiola pockets from Everton in the immediate, and for the transfer.

He has 2 years after this one remaining. What's Lukaku worth to Everton a season?

Saying we should do a Dortmund with Lewandowski and force him to stay against his will until the end of his contract?

Honestly knew he wasn't going to stick around forever, he's never pretended anything other than playing champions league is his aim, just unfortunate we've not been able to get that with him. I'm not going to pretend I'm not gutted as I don't know who could replace his goals, but I really hope fans don't turn on him. Please go abroad for too dolla though Rom, can't bare the thought of him strutting about in the premier league. :(

Make his life horrible on Saturday. Time we acted like a big club and demand better. A small club lies down here and accepts defeat. A big club fights their corner and makes it abundantly clear we don't accept disrespect in public midway through the season.
