Ronald Koeman discussion

Its an English thing that, looking to go forward all the time.

Its also the reason why England are rubbish at football.
I disagree. If you dont play a forward pass that isn't on it's the right thing to initially do: the quickest route between two points - the ball and the goal - is a straight line. Why over-complicate that?

In football the ends justify the means. Want to be a man of the people? No problem if you're Carlo Ancelloti cuddling your way to 3 European cups. Big problem if you're El conquistador phenomenaling his way to the worst home record in our history. Want to be a dictator? No problem if you are currently coaxing Barkley Lukaku and Robles' best ever form out of them. Again a bit of a problem though if half the squad revolt like Chelsea did last season.

This squad has needed a kick up the arse for about 7 years. Everyone could see it. Koeman is currently striking the right balance. I was critical of his handling of Niasse but every manager has this type of case on their record. Again look st the end product, he's happy playing and scoring and we may recoup most of our money. Had Koeman played nicey nice with a player he didn't rate he'd be sat in the stands quite happily picking up 50k a week.
SAF always said that he regretted selling Van Nistelrooy when he did, and it was all because of a spat between the two that should have been resolved. One of the best managers in history let go of one of the best strikers in history over a trivial matter (though I will cheer Niasse on and hope he reaches his potential).

For years English footballers have been obsessed with getting it forward, they try to force passes that are not there and it knocks players out of position. You just have to look at the England team to see that, literally every time they get the ball its a case of "lets score a goal as quick as possible". I dont even mean hoofball either, I mean trying to play a hollywood pass that isnt there.

Of course its the quickest route but if there are things in the way then you need to be a bit more creative.
