City - Aguero
Chelsea - Costa
Liverpool - Coutinho

All of those, bar probably Chelsea, would look weaker without their main man. But, they, like us, would get very good money for their main man, so the trick is spending the money wisely.

Pre the Chinese influence, it would probably be fair to argue that we were more likely to lose Lukaku than any of the above were likely to lose their main man, and that's still the case, but less so.

We need to finish the season well to show we're close to the, so called, big six, which will give us a fighting chance of keeping Lukaku.

If we can do that, and strengthen in the Summer, then there's no reason we can't start to knock on the door of the top four on a regular basis. End of the day, there are only four Champions League places, and, over the next four or five years, I reckon those places will be a bit more fluid than they have been in recent years

Lukaku has scored over a quarter of Evertons PL goals since he's been here (59 out of 208). I stand to be corrected, but I doubt those other players are leant on quite so heavily by their teams.

There would be a real crisis this summer if he left. Yes, he could make a decision to extend his time here. But the contract being run down so low doesn't make me feel that's favourite at this point. I think he'll go. His stock is high and he'll probably notch up 23 or so for the season.

At that point, and as you identify, reinvestment becomes crucial. Personally I think Koemans signings are hit and miss.

I'm being consistent mate. I dont like the man. I haven't forgotten his antics earlier in the season and I don't care for his attitude in relation to this club.

There no question we have improved over the past 6 weeks or so though, so I'd give that grudging respect. That said, we're 7th in a 6 horse race, so pardon me for not wanting to genuflect to him as you might.

Dave, I think we all know you don't like the man, that's pretty clear. I think the problem might be that your admitted dislike for the man is badly clouding your judgement. Why not forget the man in charge, and enjoy the good football and upwards progression of our team.

I do enjoy the performances of players like Lukaku and the emergence of Davies, in particular. I won't warm to this feller in charge though. He's not an Everton man and nevet will be in my opinion. Of course if he emulates Catterick and he wins cups then who cares - I'll grit my teeth and enjoy the victory and shut him out of it, which was a lot of people's attitude to Catterick I believe. But we're nowhere near that point at the moment. Some might be getting ahead of themselves, but I see no cups coming here this season and a team in 7th place.

Fair enough mate. Your entitled to your own opinion, and although I disagree with it, I respect it. Although to be fair many people did like Catterick's personality as well.

Indeed yes.Anyway things really have kicked into gear for Koeman in 2017.Just a shame about the Leicester match.But the squad has been invigorated by young talents like Tom Davies Ademola Lookman Mason Holgate and Dominic Calvert Lewin.Were now spoilt for choice with central midfield options as well.The Man City game actually wasn't a false down.We came out of two potential banana skins away to Palace and Stoke unbeaten and now we've had a good win over Bournemouth.We've closed to gap to Man United to two points as well although they do have a game in hand.Whether you think Koeman is an Everton man or not is irrelevant.We are a much improved team this season from the jokeshop that Martinez presided over during the previous two seasons.Martinez is gone.He's not coming back and Koeman isn't going anywhere for awhile either.So why not give him credit where it's due instead of sniping away from the sidelines while still crying over that signed photograph of Roberto Martinez.

Ha ha. Yes, quite right. That Bournemouth game has been turned into a loss in many peoples minds such was the effect it had on confidence last season. We actually picked up four points against a better Bournemouth team than this one last season and we took just three this season.

That doesn't fit the narrative though.

Yeah. 0-2 up after about 30 minutes like today. Second half we crumbled and they drew it back to 2-2 in something like 88th and 90th minute. We scored what Should've been the winner in the 95th and then Stanislas scored in the 98th.

I've explained, I don't like the feller. His attitude is wrong, all wrong. The advice to Lukaku to leave, the public tongue lashings of individual players, the scandalous treatment of Niasse - as a man I find him distasteful and he'd get a good smack in everyday life if he hawked that kind of attitude around with him.

As said, there has been a welcome upturn in both results and performances and it'd be churlish not to acknowledge it. But he's done f.a. in the grand scheme of things so I refuse to be brow beaten by anyone trying to talk him up. He's nothing in this club's history so far. NOTHING.
