Ronald Koeman discussion

but that would be the same for any club Dave. Top player leaves, club struggles to replace that. That's not exclusive to us, that's not our fault. In fact it's our fault that we were so abymsal for 2 seasons and a stint this season between September to early December that we will rue being so crap for 2 seasons and a bit where if we had pushed on we would have had a slotter in the ranks whilst hitting CL qualification.

Only fault with the above

1.the tit of a manager you love cost us 2 seasons

2. Lukaku isn't the be all and end all of Everton ( no matter how boss a slotter he is ). When he leaves, we will get someone else and we'll have a new hero just like we've always had throughout the history of Everton.
A) I didn't say it was our fault that he'd leave.
B) that "tit of a manager" bought him...our most important signing for decades. Koeman bought Bolaise for the same price. Guess which one looks more like a tit?

from where I'm standing I'd still say Martinez looks like the tit mate and I'd think 99.9% would agree.

Oh and he bought Bolasie for 23m not 28m Dave

edit - don't want to be seen as going off topic Dave so I will leave it at that though I'm spot on with the above percentage mate ;)

No. Goals scored are a premium in this league. He is almost literally worth his weight in gold, Lukaku...strike that, he is easily worth his weight in gold.
This makes no sense. Strike that, it makes absolutely no sense. Even If Lukaku is worth 280m and we paid 28m he's only worth 10x his value. Coleman cost £60,000 and we could sell him easily for £10m. Simple that.

Ok mate. Have it your way. I hope he's as big a tit as Martinez was in his first season. Little bit to go for the fat Dutch lad before that happens though.

Just as his goals got us out of the brown stuff last season (though they dried up toward the end), so are his goals this season the difference between a team mid-table and one

To expand on @maccavennie's point

United - The pony tailed Ibramohvic ( sp ? )
Spurs - Kane
Arsenal - Sanchez
City - Aguero
Chelsea - Costa
Liverpool - Coutinho

All of those, bar probably Chelsea, would look weaker without their main man. But, they, like us, would get very good money for their main man, so the trick is spending the money wisely.

Pre the Chinese influence, it would probably be fair to argue that we were more likely to lose Lukaku than any of the above were likely to lose their main man, and that's still the case, but less so.

We need to finish the season well to show we're close to the, so called, big six, which will give us a fighting chance of keeping Lukaku.

If we can do that, and strengthen in the Summer, then there's no reason we can't start to knock on the door of the top four on a regular basis. End of the day, there are only four Champions League places, and, over the next four or five years, I reckon those places will be a bit more fluid than they have been in recent years
