Crystal Palace could not record back-to-back wins for the first time since December as 10-man Everton held out for a draw at Selhurst Park.

James McCarthy was sent off for fouls on Yohan Cabaye and Yannick Bolasie, and Toffees keeper Joel Robles did well to keep out Jason Puncheon's effort.

Everton - winless in five league games - struck the bar with a fine Ross Barkley strike before the dismissal.

They defended resolutely late on and have 40 points, two more than Palace.

Both Palace and Everton have a comfortable cushion on Sunderland - who sit in the final relegation place on 27 points - but the stalemate will do little to lift scrutiny of their worrying form.

Err Dave, they were under pressure at 3-2 and ended up winning 6-3, I don't think that really strengthens your argument. And Koeman's subs played a key part in them winning, which he takes due credit for

Bottling would be if we were 2-0 up against Bournemouth and then ended up drawing 3-3, because we left a knackered Kone on the wing when it was clear we should have made a sub but the manager didn't make one and it ended up costing us a win

  • Romelu Lukaku has scored the 300th hat-trick in Premier League history.

That is a squad you can build on. Got rid of all the crap. Now we need a centre back, a goalie, a left back, and another striker. Keeping Lukaku by making some ambitious summer buys is essential.
