Ronald Koeman discussion

I'm not doing cartwheels myself, but in the context of whether these players will be moving up in there careers or are considered to be lagging behind ours because S'ton are 11th in the league it's a valid point.

Well Tom Davies and Mason Holgate arent exactly moving down are they?

Y'know, the ones Koeman is playing.

Literally not remotely bothered which "other players" you are on about.

Why not? I thought these are the ridiculous standards we are judging Koeman by now? Koeman apparently disregarded this wealth of academy talent at Southampton because he 'doesn't trust youth players' (despite doing so at every other club he's been at). I'm sure if those players are so good and Puel is the polar opposite we'll see them in action on Wednesday and not the players that made up the bulk of Koeman's squad.
He's been playing the likes of McQuuen, Sims, Olomola in that tournament.

Even for that reason it's worth staying in the EFL for...oh well.....next season maybe.

Who's claiming they are? The issue is their younger players, who some believe are suffering because they're in 11th position. If they get a winners medal I'm sure they'll "be arsed" too.

You might see their youngsters with a winners medal at Wembley soon (I sincerely hope so because they'll have knocked out Liverpool and then beat United). You WONT see any of our younger players doing that this season though, that is for sure.

Might being the key word there but that'd be nice for them and I hope they win on wed that's for sure and it would be nice for us to be in that position but it's hardly a measure of Koemans failure there that Southampton are now in a semi final a season on. it's a Cup that nobody prioritises and it's still a big IF for them to win it yet anyway. We were in that position twice last season and won jack . I just think it's laughable that you give the fella down the banks for almost anything he does. I suspect almost everyone in football would say Southampton were doing better last season than this yet you still use it against Koeman as something else to beat him with. Personally I couldn't care less about what he achieved or didn't achieve at Southampton or what they achieve this season either TBH and you 'might' see Everton there next season but I wouldn't judge Ronnies time here as a success if he won the League Cup either, although as I said before it would be nice. The point in playing any player is to improve the team and that's the top and bottom of it for me, I couldn't care what age they are.

Well you do keep bemoaning people being happy with a 7th placed finish this season. Which I've just done, yet you've skipped over it this time
No, no I dont. I've stated umpteen times it's acceptable this season.

Maybe if I say it umpteen times +1 it will work?

Dave mate what if we did catch up with the top 6 in the next month ? And then go for the last push to qualify for Europe ,would you change your view on koeman mate ? Nil satis nisi optinum

You must be kidding. We've been trophy-less for 22 years. If he won us a trophy - ANY trophy - he;d have earned the £6M per year he's receiving.

Dont underestimate the thirst for silverware amongst the fans of this club. The degrading of the LC by some is bewildering to me.

You know that had we made a semi-final some would be giving credit to the previous manager for "laying the groundwork" for successful cup campaigns. Ironic that.

I wonder if Soton lose the semi if their fans would consider this season more successful than last, somehow I think not.
